Such questions are always in the back of our minds. Sometimes we can push them back if our lives are busy enough.
We cannot bear to honestly face a meaningless, pointless existence, it would drive us insane or to suicide.
We spend our lives seeking our own happiness and at the same time longing for our lives to mean more than just that. We invent purposes for ourselves, such as volunteering to help mentor children, and then pretend that is what we were put on earth to do.
What we want deep down is some purpose that would give our lives real meaning but such a thing can only come from God.

Yeah,
A few times now usually beofre something happens to change my life. I'm also a bit there at the moment - just waiting for the wind to change :)
