If you ask a question in the religion and spirituality section you have to expect a bit of sermonising. However some religious people are so 'taken up' by their religion that they don't seem to be able to speak for themselves. They have to use a bible or some sort of 'holy book' to try and back up what they probably know in their hearts might be (at the very best) a shaky belief. This is one of the things I have always said about religion. It is fine to have a belief and use that as a driving force in your life
, but why does that have to take away your individuality. You know you ca have an opinion without having to resort to some 'holy text' (normally taken out of context) to try and justify your belief!

Christians cannot help it. What they say is not from their brain or mind - except the brain-washed part - and they can only answer like robots and repeat without thinking what they have been taught.
They do not have minds of their own, their minds have been filled with unprovable rubbish from parents, priests, religious fanatics. Reasoning and logic does not come into it.
Ask them what two mulitplied by two equals, and their answer is like speech from automatons, and they treat religious answers the same. They cannot deviate from the stock answer or think for themselves. And, as you say, they do not always practice what they preach - when it suits them.
How about all these priests and vicars who run off with the flower ladies and church cleaners, or the ones who abuse young boys and girls.
They never mention those, do they? There is a vicar at my local church who is not married but he does have a `partner,` thereby defying that part of the bible which states: "Man sleeping with man is a `shirt lifter` and a pervert. Personally, I don`t think either of them has read the bible!

Friend not all christians are hypocrites. If some do fail to walk the way they talk, God will deal with them. Now to answer your question, Why do we (christians) always use the bible in almost everything that we say or do? It's very simple and my answer will come from the bible : Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.
Friend please repent and turn away from your sins. Accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. Seek His will by obeying His commandments. To God be the Glory! Forever and ever! Amen!

Dearly Beloved,
We have gathered here today to answer your question.
Ha!
A lot of people answer the question that they wished you had asked. I'm guilty of that too sometimes. I've got a lot of stuff in my head that I'm looking for a chance to verbalise.
Whenever we divide the world up into Good and Evil, we are bound to end up with fighting and arguing.
When somebody 'identifies' with their religion, they can see any disagreement with that religion as life threatening (ego threatening). So they try to dominate you and the forum.
Don't worry, your best chance of encouraging openness and tolerance is to embody them yourself.
Good luck.

You can also ask a religious question and the hoards of faithless atheists descend and rant and rant and hurl insults. It works both ways you know. Why are atheists on the religious section anyhow? It's like having homophobes on the 'lesbian , gay and bi' section and football haters on the 'soccer' section. If you don't like the subject...go to another category you do like.

I know what you mean it's just over the top!
I also find it annoying when you ask a question to find out something and the person wants to jump down your throat.

The person asked a question and that's the answer he/she got. It was the manner in which the person answering the question felt was the best way to get his/her point across.

A Christian's love for Christ permeates every pore of his/her
being and every area of the life. It is only natural for them to bring it into their everyday conversations, because, to them, Christ is life.
Christian/Buddhist here. I find it very difficult to not bring spiritualism into everything. I can't help it, I see it in everything.
Is that an explanation that makes sense?
