Your missing the point, his age is a fluke and insignificant as was his kingship.

Anyway this error was duly noted by the scholars and dealt with in the NIV version of the bible.

My question to you now is this, "Is this what you are going to tell God that kept you from believing in his Son Jesus Christ?" Please reconsider.

Also, in case you are wondering why I believe with all my heart in Jesus Christ, as my Lord and Savior; It's because he reached me at the right age.

You better make sure you have the correct Bible translation.

2 Chronicles 22:2 states in the New American Standard Translation: "Ahaziah was twenrty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Athaliah, the granddaughter of Omri."

I see no error in the Word of God.

2 Kings 8:26
26 Two and twenty years old was Ahaziah when he began to reign; and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Athaliah, the daughter of Omri king of Israel.

2 Chronicles 22:2
2 Two and twenty years old was Ahaziah when he began to reign, and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. His mother's name also was Athaliah the daughter of Omri.

There are translation and transliteration errors in various versions. It is still good to read about God.

Now can't you admit that you're nitpicking just a little bit? What does Ahaziah have to do with salvation or living a good Christian life that honors God? But I suppose you could then argue that if the translators made that mistake, couldn't they have made others? I think if you ignore minor spelling and grammar errors and age disagreements and focus on the important matters that involve living a good, pure, moral life you'll find a lot of truth in that book. Have a good night.

You made a mistake.
Both verses say he was twenty two years old.
2 Kings 8
26 Ahaziah was twenty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem one year. His mother's name was Athaliah, a granddaughter of Omri king of Israel.
2 cronicles 22
2 Ahaziah was twenty-two [a] years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem one year. His mother's name was Athaliah, a granddaughter of Omri
Thanks for making me look it up

I'm not sure what translation that one is from, but my translation says in both verses he was twenty two when he began his reign. Regardless, it is hardly a contardiction. A contraction is asserting the opposite or opposition between two conflicting forces or ideas. In that translation it was apparently a copying error. That does not disprove the Bible in it's entirety but that there was simply an error in copying that passage.

Are there any Scriptures that you've been reading that you like and would like to share, since the bulk of them are verses you've come up with are ones to try to disprove it. Even if not considering it as a basis for your belief system, while you're reading it, try to be balaced, and see the good that it contains.

Peace be with you.

well..ahaziah was the son of jehoram.
jehoram was 32 when he became king, and he reigned 8 years making him 40.then he died.
ahaziah was the youngest son..his brothers were dead already.so he became king.
my bible points out that the text is different from the first, but i doubt he was 42 if his dad died at 40.

If you read the bible there are more than one version of alot of the stories. It was written by more than one person and each add or took away. I have read it many times, for those who know me out there yes I'm still a Pagan, to understabd a group of people you need to understand what they beleive in. I am always suprized when Christians never seem to see the differecne themselfs and ask why.

I guess you are speaking to the fundie Christians who think the Bible is infallible, especially the King James Version. I'm not a fundie, so I really don't have much to say about this...the Bible is not infallible; if it were, there wouldn't be so many different versions.

I believe the Bible is the Word of God, but I also believe it's been through many, many hands over a period of many, many years. I read my Bible, but I also seek God and listen to, and for, His voice. I really believe that finding the true God means allowing Him to speak no matter what is said...scriptural or not, because the scripture may not be accurate, or you may be misinterpreting it.

My apologies to the Southern Baptists. I removed my comment.
