Yesterday, while having a cuppa at my mum's, I picked up the previous Sunday's paper. I read about the 17 month old baby - tortured to death. I threw the paper away and went into the kitchen where MY 17 month old baby was cuddling with her Gran, I picked her up, buried my face in her tiny curls and wept like a baby.
I felt grief, sorrow, anger and a murderous rage that made it hard to breathe...I felt like I'd been kicked in the chest.
I then realised there cannot be a 'God', an 'almighty' all-loving being who could leave this to happen to babies, children, all vulnerable people.

Heaven is having no conscience.
Hell is here on Earth.
The Devil is the human race itself.
The bible was a story book, written by men, to fool other men.

There is no 'God'......is there?

No, there isn't really, but first of all, what a terrible thing to have happened to that poor child! Awful and horrifying beyond words.

Having your belief in something a god like you had, then losing it traumatically, must be very hard. I came to the conclusion that the Christian god was made up a long time ago, gradually over time. But then comes relief, when it all settles down and you can see the world for what it really is. It isn't a resting stop or a dress rehearsal before we die, it is here and now, this is life. And the deaths of innocent children and all the other tragedies that exist in this world are the creation of neither god nor devil, for neither one exists.

The fact is that terrible things happen because that is how the world was set up by Mother nature, for lack of another term, and nature is a force without the human senses of right and fairness and mercy. There is no tenderness. Nature brings forth life and then rips it apart, supports our lives and destroys thousands in a typhoon. All actions occur, they are not "done" by a force that feels or senses or cares about right or good. Nature just is.

That is hard to take sometimes. But the reality of life is much easier to undertand and accept than the idea that there is a god who lets little babies get hurt and killed and sits by and does nothing. THAT kind of god would be hard to love. Fortunately, he does not exist.

I cried too, when I read your quesiton. The horrors of the world are just too much to bear sometimes. I'm a mother too, it sickens me what people are capable of.

Mother Earth has taken the baby back to itself. What a senseless loss!

Take care,

Yup! Coming to the realization that Christianity and indeed all religions are man made fiction is a slap in the face! It's a rough awakening, but welcome to the real world. This doesn't mean that you need to let go of the help that a church can provide. Feel free to let go of the BS, but to see churches as places where they can aid you. Sort of like a water station at a marathon. Don't think twice of the doctrine of why someone is handing you a cup of water, just accept it, drink it, splash it on yourself for refreshment and discard the cup and keep running!! You've been handed a crap hand in the card game of life. But look around. Your not the only one. Many have been dealt worse. Just do the best you can with the hand you've been dealt. Live for those you love. Fight for the time that you do have. I think you know that doing stupid things won't bring you much happiness so don't bother fulfilling those threats to your own good health. But now that you know that time is short, don't waste it. Make a bucket list of the things you want to do and get to work!! My thoughts and well wishes go out to you. Keep fighting! Congratulations on your awakened status! People are everywhere whom will want to help you fight on! Just open your eyes!! Live Long and Prosper!! (Sounds corny, but is meant sincerely!)

There is something called karma- and it means cause and effect--you do something bad -you get a bad reaction--you do something good and you get a good reaction--now what do you think is going to happen to that person who did that to the baby? Bad karma--very bad karma! He might be able to hide from the people of earth but He cant hide from God--and yes--we don't always have to get our bad karma by going to hell--we get it right on earth--so we don't know why that happened to that baby--we don't know what we did in our past lives nor the past lives of anyone else---we just know it all has to do with karma---

did you know that each and every day thousands of innocent lives of animals are tortured and murdered just so someone can enjoy eating them--Do you think that is right? Go to a slaughterhouse and you won't ever eat another animal again if you could see the sadness and fear and cold-hearted killing that goes on everyday---so we are all sinners and we are all suffering in this prison far away from God's beautiful world--You can't go up to God's world and be a killer--Only this is the place for killers!

There IS a 'God'!

Mankind has been given the freedom to choose what they do in this world.
"The Bible" is God's hand-book by which mankind is to live by but mankind continues to have little regard let alone obey any of God's instructions and commandments. So when our world turns to custard and people do evil things, isn't it just a cop out and plain rude to then turn around and blame God for our mess, our disobedience and sinful/evil ways?

Galatians 6:7 Do not be deceived; God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. 8 For he who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption; but he who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.

Revelation 21:8 - But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the polluted, as for murderers, fornicators, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their lot shall be in the lake that burns with fire and sulphur, which is the second death."

As a mother it kills me to read or hear about things like this and know exactly what you feel. But there is no-one to blame so we look and blame the nearest. God is not to blame for this. In fact he saved this child from any further harm. I have read and even seen children suffer in some sort of pain whether by evil parents or illness and pain.

This baby IS in heaven and not on living hell planet here.
Don't give up on god he in the saver.....

im really sorry that you got all upset, but your right, there is no god, and even if there is he doesn't give a s*** about what happens on earth. And as some one else pointed out, religion is terrible for relationships, my gf became and evangelical and we split up because i refused to change my religion.

Hail Satan

P.S. By the way i really like that little poem at the end, did you come up with that, and if so can i put it one of mine that im righting at the moment??

To believe in a creator God despite the evidence is a triumph of over-optimism. Even some Jewish Rabbis lost their faith in the face of the Holocaust.*

We have a choice - to act with hatred and greed and "enjoy" the consequences or to respond with love and generosity and find real fulfilment.

There is a God and he does care. Our Heavenly Father created this earth and prepared it with appropriate conditions for our growth and development. He essentially sent us to school. These conditions include competing "truths" and the likelihood of people making both good and bad decisions.

Keep in mind that earth life covers a very short time period in the eternal scheme of things. There are some short videos at the following web site that go into more detail if you're interested.

Life is a hellish struggle, to move onto bigger and better things in the afterlife? Who knows. Every time I think there is really, truly no God, something happens that makes me think twice. There is much more to existence than meets the eye.

Organized religion is rubbish.

I feel for your hurt, and fully sympathise with it.
Man's inhumanity to man appears to have no limits. BUT....
let me tell you that that breaks the heart of God. He has given us free will and will not withdraw it, however much our abuse of it breaks His heart.
Your own 17month old will, as she grows up, do silly and stupid things which will cause you grief and heartbreak, But you will have to let her go her own way. 0therwise you deny her humanity.
How much more, then, must God be 'pierced to the heart by the sorrow of the sword'?
Hold on in there. He loves you.
