In layman's terms, anti-anxiety medications such as benzodiazepines (i.e. Valium, Xanax, Klonopin, etc.) exert their effects by increasing the effects of a chemical in your brain called GABA. GABA is an inhibitory neurotransmitter (it calms you down) and is found throughout the brain. When an anti-anxiety drug enters your brain, it binds to GABA receptor sites and allows your brain's natural GABA to work more effectively, thereby calming you down. However, you must be careful with these meds because they are highly addictive. Hope this helps!

Well, it all depends on which kind of tablet they are and what type of anxiety you have. From personal knowledge the ones I know are a type of wafer that you put under your tongue and they dissolve. This method is the best and fastest to calm any kind of anxiety attacks. The way this works is that since it dissolves the chemicals go straight to your brain, thus sending out the appropriate signals to your system thus calming you down within a matter of minutes if not seconds.

valium is what you need, not xanax, that's a benzo mainly for depression. valium, klonopin or ativan would be perfect. go to your doctor when possible and ask for a script for 20, 5mg valium and take them when you have these bad attacks. although this is a very difficult task unless you have a trusting and understanding doctor. I know exactly what you're talking about. I was put on 15mg of diazepam a day, as I felt like my insides were going crazy. I couldnt ever use my right hand from punching stuff. I don't have an anger problem I would just feel so miserable inside. I feel your pain, and a benzo is prob what you need. not as a daily medication but as a quick acting chill the freak out drug for these attacks. good luck!

the disolving pill (adavan) works so well. I have been taking it for awhile and it calms me right down to the point where I can function normally again.
