The bible speaks of Jesus as being a firstborn son, so any brother would have been younger.

I believe that James was younger. As were the rest of the half brothers of Jesus.

I was told there was a possibility that Joseph being an older man had a family before Jesus.
Jesus had no real brothers but they his cousins called bretheran in Bible passages, John the Baptist was his first cousin and so was the Apostle Jude.
I never heard that James was his brother; I think James brother was John the one that wrote the 4th gospel, they were the sons of Zebedee.

He was younger, since Jesus was the firstborn son of Mary, she having been a virgin before he was concieved by holy spirit.

younger, christ was the first-born, and james was obviously a half-brother since joseph wasn't Jesus' father.

why younger of course Joseph never "knew" her till after Jesus was born, because Jesus was born of a virgin

would of HAD to have been younger since before Mary had Jesus it says that she was a virgin.
