would it necessarily follow that this creator would have to be the Christian God instead of some other God or Gods? If you say faith, how do you account for the fact that millions of other religious people also have faith in beliefs that directly contradict yours?

Creationists will never understand that even if they could PROVE the universe was created, that no single SPECIFIC god could be proven itself.

The right of people to enjoy the protection of the constitution and law is paramount to running a society . God or no God people must have certain freedoms or rather guarantees that their life is somewhat within their own control . That people can not make accusations against them alone that would have them removed from society . I remember a trend that women began using some years ago during divorce proceedings to keep the husbands away from the kids and them and increase the chance of getting more and that was to accuse them of molesting the kids . In 99% of cases where it was charged that the husband might have been abusing the kids it was found that no such evidence of those charges could be supported . Forget a creator and get down to the simple facts . If you have people believing that they can be pulled off the streets and jailed then you run the risk of people who become more open to killing . Is this what we want . I man fearing that his wife could simply claim he molested the kids and then even convince the kids that it had happened and he could go to prison for a long time and run the risk of being killed by inmates who hate molesters . They would resort to killing the wife . Or how about a boss that could accuse you of stealing rather then just fire you . Maybe a woman you date has a friend and to get even she accuses you of rape . The two of them use a large vibrator and cause some temporary damage and she claims you used a condom . Well investigation and evidence would possibly get you out of this if no evidence is found linking you like say some of you skin cells on her pubic hair or signs of the condoms particular lubrication and several other items that can break open these lies and show you are innocent . If you do not provide equal protection and rights under the law to all people you have ended for ever the notion of a free society .

It's not as difficult as it seems ... there is God, everyone worships the same God, but each religion can has it's own name.
About religions, all religions are the same ... first God revealed the Jewish religion by the prophet Israel, but the followers modified the religion principles, that's when another religion was revealed by God, which is the Christianity religion which was introduced by the prophet Jesus, it was modified too ... then God revealed the Islamic religion , by prophet Mohamed ... so the religions are all the same if they weren't modified.

I believe that there probably is a creator, Whether anybook described him accurately is a matter larger than me, but I doubt it. Most religions are simply wishful thinking and have nothing to do with the true nature of divinity.

Nothing since (the earth evolved, exploded in to place and slime evolved) is evident in our everyday life... it has not reoccured.

P.2 Nothing else in our everyday life has no creator... who painted that painting --- no-one it evolved (never heard that, don't ever expect to either...)

No the earth cannot exist without a creator, and it is just a neat little theory to try and say God is obsolete and we don't need him... Hey God doesn't play it by our rule book He has His own and according to Him - none of us make it on our own, we need to accept Jesus Christ to have relationship with God that transcends death...

All effects must have a cause. The origin of the universe is an effect requiring a cause. The cause must be supernatural because a thing can't be its own cause. Therefore there is a supernatural origin for the universe.

It doesn't have to be the Christian God, but he fits the description.

It doesn't have anything to do with faith or the number of people who believe whatever.

Can you NOT see how unlikely this is? If there is NO god (which there is a God) then that's like having the parts of a plane in a junkyard being blown about by the wind until they assemble themselves into plane.
