I like Los Angeles Much more than I like San Diego. More things to do, and I like the people better as well, the people in SD, always knock other cities, they're insecure.

Objectively, San Diego probably defeats L.A. in those oft cited 'quality of life' indexes. But personally, I like L.A. better. It's more cosmopolitan and diverse. The L.A. cultural scene is also far more exciting than San Diego (which is still basically a military garrison with a pretty beach).
I don't dislike San Diego per se. But San Diegans are awfully smug about the fact that they have less crime, traffic, and pollution than other California cities. You're not the only place in the world with sunshine, palm trees, and a stretch of sand, guys. Get off the high horse.

Tough question. A time whereas L.A. (most apart from the slums etc.) were more than merely fun and adorable. San Diego were unique, but like Bakersfield had some absurd okiefied attitude which they disguised a bit better.
Any place left in S. Ca. that didn't get trashed?

In terms of scenery and outdoors, San Diego's got LA beat pretty badly. On top of that, LA's got horrible traffic, a slight smog, beaches in LA are very dirty, etc... the list goes on.
LA really only has better trendyness scenes and nightlife.

It really depends on why you are asking. Are you just curious? In that case I've lived in both and I like LA.
But if you want to know which to visit or move to thats a whole other thing and would depend on what you like - what your lifestyle is like.
