You can fast on the 15th Syaaban or 14th Syaaban the day after the Night of Baraah for a day with the intention that its is in honour of Nisfu Syaaban (ie Centre of Syaaban).

Other scholars of the fanatic Wahabbi strain who frowns upon many super-regatory (sunnat) worship like fasts on Islamic Holy Days and other forms of celebration, says it is not allowed quoting a hadis that one is not supposed to fast after the mid of Syaaban to differentiate it with Ramadhan. Cos they say that fasting all the way may make one commit haram as then one might end up fasting on 1st Syawal beyond the max 30 days of Ramadhan.

This hadis however does not prevent one from fasting on the 15th Syaaban. What ulama has said is that you cannot, for example start fasting from the mid of Syaaban, all the way for about 15 days or so, and conjoin it with Ramadhan. Thus your start of Ramadhan is not clear. Likewise, you can't for example start fast on the last day of Syaaban cos then your fast may be 31 days in total which doesn't happen in a lunar calendar.

As for the fasting on the last 3 days in Syaaban and join it with Ramadhan I've not heard or know people who does it.

Also, there are people who fast continously for Rajab, Syaaban and Ramadhan ie for 3 months. This was the way of the pious past of Sufi leanings so by the time one gets to Ramadhan, one is in a prime spiritual state.

If anybody tells you its haram or bidaah or kufr or syirik or anything of that sort, you have to be careful cos they may be Wahabbis or Salafis. Look for answers among the Ahl Sunnah wal Jamaah and find the concensus (ijma) opinion of them and just ignore the others.

So, yes, you can fast on the 15th Syaaban, even 14th and 15th it is highly commendable like you say. Allah Taala announces to the malaikah and to all creations in general ones life span and sustenance (rizq) for the coming year on the Night of Baraah.

Dear Sister,Fasting only in the fifteen of Shaban is a false or not valid hadith. It is a bid'ah that if you do it you will get sin..The valid hadith spoke that Muhammad pbuh and his wives were fasting during the month of Shaban for fulfilling the rest obligation of fasting in the current year.Muhammad pbuh was fasting 3 days in the beginning of Shaban date 1,2 and 3 ,3 days in the middle of Shaban on date 14,15,and 16 and 3 days before the end of Shaban on date 26,27 and 28.
The benefit or reward or merit or pahala of 9 days Shaban fasting is egual with the merit of fasting uninterrupted during 60 years. So its reward is very big, please you do not miss it.
If you can only fasting for 3 days your reward will be the same with fasting 20 years.I am fasting now for the first of Shaban insya Allah. it will make you clear and do not confuse.Salam for you..
