No way.

You simply aren't experienced enough to handle something with that much power.

Get a Front Drive 4 cylinder and don't worry what the girls will think, they actually tend to prefer safe drivers to suicidal ones.

No, the best vehicle for a 16 male would be something 6 cylinders or below and older than 5 years
Statistics show us that males in the 16-20 range given or have access to v6 or higher engines have a high injury rate due to high speed collision
I have 12 brothers
7 got brand new trucks for 16th b-day all the trucks never made it to their 17th b-days
Plus if I am guessing right that is an early 200 series fire bird which is as safe in a collision that a 4 Dr sedan would be
check the consumer reports If you want something new try a Honda
Saturn
Chevy
JUST NOT SPORTS CARS

Everybody is full of crap. First of all, that's not even a Trans Am - it's a Firebird. That's only a 3.8 litre V6 engine which puts out just over 200 horsepower - that's nothing that a 16 year old is going to kill himself with.

My father bought me that exact same car in black when I was 16 and I never once crashed it. I took great care of it, treated it like it was my baby, and it never let me down. The only reason I sold it was because we had to move and I wanted a change of pace... so I bought a Trans Am :-P

Anyway, it's completely practical. Since it's only the V6, it's no different than buying a Grand Am for example. Same engine as a matter of fact. There's nothing especially fast about the stock Pontiac Firebird and a new driver should have no trouble handling it. I assure you - it's an AMAZING car that anybody can have loads of fun in. I loved mine to death.

Pontiac Trans Am? Well, it's kind of a gas guzzler, not only that but your insurance is going to be WAY off the roof. Try getting something a little toned down, maybe a Honda, Acura, Nissan, Chevy or a crappy Ford. Try to get something olderthen five years old, and less then a V6. Then your insurance will be pretty affordable.

for very few YES, ... ... .... ... But 80% NO

Its just asking for trouble. Your first car should be something that has alot of power. Good first car would be something like FWD or a RWD /4x4 suv/truck.

I had a 302/5.0 mustang when i was 15/16 and i only drove the car when the weather was nice, i drove parents cars if we had any type of rain / snow.

Get a normal car that can get you from A-B (something cheaper, good on gas) then in a year or so start thinking about getting your next car if you want a sports car etc.

No. The insurance premiums will be sky-high. That's trouble on four wheels for a 16 year old.

It is not a practical car for a teenager because it is too bling. A more practical car may be a hatchback which will save on fuel and maintenance.

well if your getting it with your hard earned money i would suggest a clunker. that way when you smash it your not going to be out tons of money. if you live in the snow belt your going to find a ditch somewhere. we all did it. but if your dad is getting it well go for the gusto. if you do get an old clunker save your insurance money and go with pl pd unless you live where they make you get full coverage then that sucks. getting a new car well full coverage is all you can get. pick any car that runs good.

yeah that's practical, its a 3.8 L, V6 OHV. Just like buying a Grand Am, Buick Regal, etc., the only thing that'll bite u is the insurance b/c of the F body style, insurance people don't like the fact that teens are driving something that looks like that
