I think lifting weights give you more muscle but how much does daily exorcises of punching\kicking a punching bag be worth? Is practicing with a punching bag anywhere as near being able to gain as much muscle as lifting weights? Is it better in anyway to lifting pure weights?

Hitting and kicking a bag is going to give you endurance, strike speed, and better bone density for boxing, kickboxing, MMA, etc. If you're looking to increase muscle mass and strength, lifting weights is infinitely better.

punching a heavy bag does not cause an increase in functional strength so there would be no increase in size of the muscles even with a caloric excess. hitting the heavy bag can help to increase punching power if your technique is correct. to increase muscle mass you need to use progressive resistance but there also needs to be a caloric excess in your diet.

Boxing will help with endurance and strength. If you want to bulk up do weight training. This is a great website which talks about it http://www.gainingweight.info/
