Ostensibly, this means that it is of high enough calibre to be served at banquets. However, I think it is merely good enough to be sold at sports events (like bowling). I would much prefer a Bass Ale.

Just a shot in the dark because I like the question:
Maybe it has something to do with the fact that Coors beers are kosher and can be served at banquets and large gatherings where a percentage of patrons may require kosher offerings.
Or maybe it was just to shut the High Life people up with the "Champagne of Beers" logo on that crap.

If you break down the word it will reveal itself; Ban to prohibit, quet or quit to stop, so stop drinking it or beer lovers from all over the civilised world will have it banned, I am surprised that trading standards (usually pretty tough) allow American beer to be called beer and not monkey piss
