Tough question my friends of everyday...
Here we go... My ex and I broke up about a month ago, we work at the same place, things haven't been great for us at work because of his childish behavior to move on after the break-up, which has afected us in the work enviroment, fortunately things seem to be getting better, today I had the bis news!! I have a male shih-tzu and he has a female chiuahua, they crossed and without even knowing exaclty she was pregnant, two days ago I found out (at work, lol) she delivered... What should I do??? I would love to see them... but im affraid he's gonna use this against me because of jealousy... do I have any rights?

If the dog has been with him then, sadly, you really have no rights. The dog and the pups belong to him.
If he is a decent human being, he should let you see them and even offer you one of the pups if you want one without holding anything against you.
ADD:
MARYN: Get your legal facts straight!
To Fabricio:
When you and he split and he ended up with the dog, you have NO LEGAL RIGHT to spay or neuter. Unfortunately, the dog and puppies belongs to him. Dogs are considered property. It would be no different than taking your brothers dog and having it fixed.
It would be no different if your ex-boyfriend decided to neuter your male without permission. The dog belongs to YOU and he has no right to make any decisions regarding the dog.
ADD#2
The question is not whether the puppies are wanted or unwanted, fixed or not! It's about the rights of a certain party! Sheesh!!! READ the question!

You should just ask him if you can see them. If there was no agreement before hand, you will not have any rights toward profits from the puppies because you cannot prove that the puppies are from your dog. This was a little irresponcible of both of you, but you cannot do anything about it now so don't beat yourself up about it. I do hope you learn from this and have your dog neutered. This stuff happens to people all the time, but they can do DNA tests to prove the parentage. You always can try and threaten him and tell him that you are going to file with the court to see the puppies and maybe he will believe it and let you see them, but if you use that lie to get money from the sale of the pups, you could get into a lot of trouble.

It's said that the custody of puppies goes to the owner of the mother dog. They can then distribute or keep however they please. I don't understand why or how he would use this against you? If it gets too out of hand, you can take it to court, but that would be a little over the top just for puppies. Meanwhile, it'd be smart to fix your dog so more unwanted, suprising pregnancies/births don't occur. Good luck!

You should be more concerned with how these puppies will be cared for!!! Does this man know how to take care of newborns?? Will he find loving forever homes for these puppies???? Why why why do you have intact dogs???? What right do you think you should have for being an irresponsible dog owner?? Please get your male dog neutered so he does not create any more dogs for a world that already does not have enough loving homes for the ones already here!!!

I completely agree with the first 2 answers,
BUT!
Maybe if you went through a second party. Have a neutral person ask about the pups and what's happening with them. This person should be honest that you sent them to ask.
Get a mutual friend to take pictures on the sly for you if that doesn't work.
I wouldn't seem too interested, I think it's possible he will hurt the pups and/or not let you see them just to be spiteful.

You have no rights. Breaking up is not a divorce where one hires a divorce lawyer to help divide the goods.
I feel sorry for the puppies. Be sure one of you is mature enough to have them spayed or neutered.

Hi.
Of course you have rights, the father of the pups is your dog. In the dog breeders world, the rule is that the owner of the male gets a pup. He should at least let you see thm. I understand that your ex bf is a childish person, so better explain to him not only you'd like to see them, but that you aslo want to help finding them good homes as it is your responsability also.

dog belongs to the original owner, meaning him or you, as he might have been a 'shared' item [ownership] while in the relationship but not anymore

Well u could try and work things out and just become friends. It wouldn't hurt to ask right ???? Well just ask him if u can see the puppies and pay them a visit lol i don't meen to really pay him lol but if he would let you and u wouldn't mind then u could possible ask to have one of the puppies :] Well good luck bye!
