I'm going into high school, and this is the first time that a boy that I've had a crush on has asked me out. I don't want to go against my parent's wishes and I don't want to hurt this guy. How do I say "no" nicely without bringing my parents and their "education comes before boys" rule into the conversation/confession?

Just be honest and tell him that you have very strict parents and they do not allow you to date. He can either understand and take it OR leave it..
If he is a good guy, he'll wait and be patient.
If he stops talking to you and moves on to the next girl, then you know you have a RED FLAG. He was just interested in one thing and you will know he wasn't the one for you.
-Good luck.

So,your parents don't want you to date yet.Maybe they would let you have this boy over for dinner,Or allow a afternoon movie type date.If you promised to keep your grades high.I think you should always be honest, and not lie or cover up anything with him.Just tell him the truth. It want hurt his feelings. There are a lot of girls that can't date the first year in High School.Next year may be different,If you keep your grades up.You are lucky to have such wonderful parents. Most kids dont.

Good for you for listening to your parents! They are right, you should not be focused on boys while in school!

Just tell him that you can't go out with him! If he asks why, tell him that although you are interested you just don't want to date at this time. Plan group activities together with some of your friends and hang out that way.

I thinks its best to be honest with him and let him know about your parent rule. There may not be any other polite way to say no. If you get to hang out with friends (a group of you guys going to the mall, movies, etc.) ask him if he wants to come and hang out.

Dear Alex
You already asked this question and got 39 answers. A lot of the answers covered the same ground. Perhaps more answers will not mean more enlightenment. Also why do you have a girl's icon (forgot what yahoo calls them) but a boy's name?

being honest is the best policy and then he won't wonder really why. so therefore tell them what the folks said maybe later on you will be able to date him after they can think about it.

you could say something like, "I really like you but at this present situation, i can't date so maybe we can be with each other, only without formal dating."
