One time, I told my mom about this guy with rotten & missing teeth who had a crush on me. I wasn't interested in him. But she asked me, "NOW WHAT THE HELL U WANNA DATE A MAN WITH ROTTEN TEETH FOR!?" I'm not gonna lie. He was kinda cute, but I wouldn't have dated him because of his teeth. He told me that he had some form of cancer in the back of his nose & the medications made his teeth decay. Some people say it's in the heart that matters & not the physical appearance.

I guess I wouldn't. I shouldn't be that way. It is not as if I look like a movie star, but I don't think I would.

The treatment for any kind of cancer can really mess with your teeth.

In high school I broke up with a girl once because i found she had false teeth from a car accident and they were starting to turn a weird color. So yeah I guess Id have to move on with the whole rotten teeth thing. ewe There are plenty of good hearts inside people with nice teeth

Your question struck a chord in me because I can accept A LOT of things, lookswise. I value intelligence above all else. Really. BUT. There are two exceptions to this rule:

1. You cannot have fat, short sausage fingers. I don't care if the man is on the chubby side, but he has GOT to have attractive hands. They can be smooth or rough, taken care of or worn, but they have to be attractive.

2. TEETH. I can date a guy with a crooked tooth or a snaggle tooth, even a couple broken teeth (I dated one seriously HOT boxer), etc etc. BUT. I cannot cannot CANNOT CANNOT date a man with a totally rotted, horrible grill. If the man looks like Benecio del Toro but his teeth look like Austin Powers' ....it's just. not. happening.

I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing to have a few vain quirks, either. I mean, we see people all the time who will not date someone who is too thin/fat, tall/short, dark/pale, old/young, etc..... and I'm not horribly picky lookswise, so I guess I feel kind of justified.

To each his own, right??

If it doesn't bother you, go for it.
If it does, then don't. :)

My brother in law lost all his teeth and he's only 37. They were gone by the age of 32 due to what is suspected chemicals used during desert storm. he is an amazing man. I dont often judge ppl for how they look because I'd hate to be judged that way I'd rather judge them for how they treat me. Now if his teeth are rotten due to bad personal hygene thats different. My husband has several missing teeth in the back of his mouth (which I didnt know til 2 yrs after we married) from a car accident. Good thing I didnt hold that against him

I feel kinda sad for him. But if the medication is making his teeth decay, I really don't think I would be able to find a way to kiss him. And, though it isn't everything, I want to be able to kiss the guy I'm dating. I might try being friends until his teeth could somehow be fixed if I thought he wouldn't feel as though I was stringing him along.

If you really like the person, then sometimes you have to go past the physical imperfections and think about their good attributes, physical and personal. In your circumstance, I probably would have because he was cute in the face and because the rotten teeth wasn't really his fault. However, if a guy has an alright/ugly face and rotten teeth, then as shallow as this is, I probably wouldn't date him. Ugghh, I'm a b****! :( Haha.

I know it seems harsh, but i dont think i would be able to put up with someone with missing or rotten teeth, just the thought of it disgusts me. But i'd be friends with them , but nothing further. And of course, its the heart that matter not the appearance but sometimes appearance comes into consideration and i want someone who looks decent.

With all due respect, I think that your mother has a horrible opinion and should butt out. I believe that she made you doubt yourself, and the same holds true with most of the people here.

Listen to yourself on matters such as this.

I think that a lot of the answers here aren't very deep, and people are really showing their true colors. Which is worse, rotten teeth or rotten attitudes?

Rotten teeth leads to rotten health. Once he gets them fixed, he will be even cuter than he is now, and a heck of a lot healthier.

I would feel bad if it was because of medical reasons, but there is no way I could kiss that rotten mouth. I personally couldn't do it. There are dentists that can fix these things ya know.
