It doesn't make me nervous... I'll be dead and will have no consciousness anymore.
I believe in life, love, people, marriage, and many other things, but I do not believe there is a heaven after life, regardless of belief systems.
Does it bother you that you're probably wrong about there being an afterlife and that you've wasted so much precious time here on earth glorifying a being who doesn't exist? Then you understand where I'm coming from.
From your additional comments, I guess you think that without god, there is no point to life? Very sad, my friend. The point to life is the live... enjoy every moment of breathing this air and loving another person. Enjoy every moment of sunrises and sunsets, regardless where they come from. Enjoy interacting with other people, sharing meals with friends and strangers, and experiencing everything having to do with life.
if you can't see that... if your god is more important to you than living... there's nothing I can tell you that you'll understand.

I think using christ as a 'personal saviour' is a complete cop out for some people - when did people stop taking responsibilities for their own actions in this life!
I dont know what happens when we die, I wouldn't say that I necessarily believe that I will go to a 'god' - what i do believe however is living life as fully and as fairly as I can - I think this will give you peace everafter.....other than that there is not one person on this planet who knows what happens when we die - YOU included.
Kids read this site -stop trying to scare people into religion!

No, I am not afraid... I live my life with peace and happiness, that's all that matters to me.
I believe in reincarnation. But that's besides the point. Why should I fear my death when it is inevitable? Also, there is no physical, without-a-doubt proof that Heaven or Hell exists, besides what a book says. I make a habit of not believing everything I read. If your God/Jesus is as loving as people claim, then he will see me for who I am, not for what I am [religious wise].

I'm not afraid of not existing. The physical act of dying might make me a little nervous, as I doubt it'll be very comfortable, but I'm not remotely afraid of what will happen after I die.
By the way, don't you think it's a little arrogant to suggest that your particular religion is the only thing that prevents fear of death? Especially when many people only join a religion because of that same fear?

No.
For those who don't have Spider-Man as your personal saviour, aren't you afraid of what will happen to you whenDr. Doom gets his gloved hands on you? Do you ever stop to think about it? Doesn't it make you nervous?
See where this breaks down?
People who know Spider-Man isn't real also know Dr. Doom isn't real.
---
When you die, you're dead.
Remember what it was like a hundred years ago? It's exactly like that.
This scares some people so much they make up stories about a magical fairy granting people eternal life.
We call these stories "religion".

well, naturally the thought of dying will make anyone nervous or worried. but it all depends on the person and how willing they are to accept their departure. If you feel that you are ready to go, then it'll probably be peaceful, but if you don't want to leave then dying will probably be pretty tough.
I guess i'm not afraid of dying, because it's all a part of life and it happens to everyone.

no...you die, you get buried (or cremated) and then you just cease to exist. Same thing will happen to you butterscotch.
why are we here? Who the hell knows. You might as well ask why is the grass green and why does a horse look like a horse? There is no divine reason, it just IS. I believe in evolution, no ONE created life, it just...boom happened. You can argue that God did that if you want, but that is not what I believe because it just doesn't make SENSE. Remember when your mom would tell you 'Because I said so!', that didn't make much sense back then either, did it?
go ahead and pray for us snowglobe, waste your time if you'd like ;-)

I am somewhat, because i have no idea what happens when we die. At least Religious people who are brainwashed to believe in the afterlife, will not have to ponder this, but they will become severely dissapointed when they die, and there is no heaven to go to. I can see the benefits of both sides, but i dont know which is better. Being religious would be nice while your alive, but knowing that there is no heaven would be nice after you die, because there is no dissapointment.

They aren't afaid because most of them don't believe in an eternal soul. If you don't have an eternal soul, then they honestly believe that "nothing" happens when they die. If they do believe in an eternal soul, it is of the "all people go to heaven" variety, meaning they don't believe there will be an accountability (judgement) for what they were about here on earth. In their carnal minds, they have nothing to be nervous about. They are fools with no knowledge.
Pro 1:7 The fear of Jehovah is the beginning of knowledge; but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

I am not and yes, I have stopped to think about it.
There is an afterlife in my religion and a place within it for the righteous.....
Jesus is NOT a God within my religion (although he might be considered by some to be a Hero in the classical sense, similar to Heracles -- another demigod)
