Guiena pigs are scared of water. Keep bathing to a minimum and use a shampoo formulated for their skin. Bunny bath is the best choice. Do not use human or even baby shampoos.
Only bathe if necessary and no more the once every 6 months.

I have jumpy pigs too! I'll share some advice with you.
Baths are not really 'needed,' but can be done, if you do them right. I never bathe more than once every two months, because mine do get dirty, as most of my pigs are at least partially (and others mostly) white furred.
I usually put about an inch of water in the bathtub and bathe them there, so that they have nowhere to really go (as in if one tries to jump out, she can't get anywhere, and gives me a better way to keep her collected.)
I would recommend using the tub instead of the sink, because face it--if the piggie hops out of the kitchen sink, bad things could happen if you don't catch her. If she tries to hop out of the tub, she isn't going to go anywhere, because you're right there, and it's a lot deeper.
Of course, always use small-animal safe shampoo and never bathe in more than an inch of water. Try to keep water away from the ears/eyes, too. Provide some lettuce and maybe a carrot afterwards to make her not hate you, of course ;)
I doubt you'll be able to cure her of the jumping (two of mine do it, and a couple others will 'prairie-dog'--stand on their hind legs and try to stare me down) so you just have to adjust and take extra caution to make sure she's safe. When I bathe, I generally try to keep one hand on the pig at all times and use my other hand to grab shampoo, lather, rinse, etc. You develop a technique after a couple of baths.

Pigs are cute pets. But they are not as smart as a dog or a cat and dogs usually don't like a bath either. It is nature for them to jump out of the water. They think you are trying to drown them! Of course you are not. Just don't wash them too much as they need to have some natural oil in their fur. Have you done on line research or bought a book. You could also call a vet just to ask questions. Pigs are vegetarians and they are rodents so they need to chew down their teeth or the teeth will grown in the mouth and the pig will starve. Towel dry them real well so they don't get a chill. The come from a warm climate in nature. Good luck

nicely... you recognize animals. My guinea pig HATED being bathed the 1st few cases, yet after a whilst, he began to truly relish his baths. only confirm the water isn't too warm or chilly. Guinea pigs are extremely mushy to temperatures, so a sprint yet warmer than room temperature must be stable. additionally, putting your guinea pig in a bucket could save them from leaping out, yet guinea pigs experience extra mushy while they have room to go. My guinea pig can get claustrophobic if surrounded. I advise bathing your guinea pig in the tub tub in some a million/2 an inch of water. It provides them lots of room to run around, and that they are able to't leap out.

You shouldnt get her face wet. After you give her a bath you should also dry her as quickly as possible and put her back in her cage once completly dry. I would recommend a tub instead of a sink. Also, make sure you only fill the tub about an inch. You can get her wet by gently pouring water on her. Make sure you use a good shampoo. I use Pet Scentsations Premium Small Animal Shampoo. My piggy likes a treat afterwards as well. Dont worry, Its a common problem.

i don't know about guinea pigs - but i have rats and the way i bathe the ones that don't want to be bathed (some love it) is first fill up the sink with warm water, put a folded towel right next to the sink, then put the animal in the water and hold it until it is wet, then let it jump up onto the towel. while she is on the towel put shampoo on her and rub it til it foams, then put her back into the water to rinse - then let her jump back out and shake herself and then dry her off. having the towel there really helps. she can cling to it and when she knows that she can jump out in a second she is calmer. afterwards i rub her with the towel and take her outside (warmer) and give her treats of course... my rats always try to groom me after this... like thanks for grooming me :)

Most ground animals aren't going to like water no matter what. It's like trying to bathe a cat. Just be very careful for them not to jump out and try to keep your cool while bathing them.

Guinea pigs don't need routine baths, it can be hard, and your guinea pig doesn't seem to like them anyway. If your guinea pig's fur is dirty, giving a "butt bath" is enough. No need to put too much stress in your pet's life.

this is not uncomon. im not sure of a way to keep her calm, but just try to keep it as little scary as you can, be sure to give her a treat like parsley or a slice of cucumber. just another thing, guinea pigs sould only be bathed about every 3 months maximum.

Try bathing her in the bath tub. Just make sure the water is no deeper than an inch.
