lately (the last few months) I have been having headaches in the front part of my head. It's more like a lightening bolt that starts in the middle and ends on the side of my head right behind my eye...it usually the right side and sometimes the left. It's a very sharp pain but then it goes away..also sometimes i have just aches on the side of my head..right behind my eyes...i have to press on the sides with my thumbs to help it ease the pain..
I will probably see a doctor soon, just wanted to see if anyone else has had these before or any idea as to what may be the cause ?? anything that might help it??

thank you

These are called migraines. I have gotten them almost 4 times a week for about 11 years. It may be caused by how you eat, if you don't eat enough. Plus, certain foods can cause migraines. Chocolate and some dairy products caused mine.

Recently the doctor gave up trying to get me to eat right so they sent me to get a scan of my head, to make sure everything was alright - and everything was ok.

You also could be having an allergy season that can cause headaches. Your nasal passages could be stuffed or infected and that can irritate your head.

Tell your mom that you would like to consult your doctor. Keep a headache diary, write down what you ate that day or how much sleep you got. It will tell you that you could be doing something to trigger them.

Headaches, even migraines are there for a reason. The reason could be eye strain, clogged sinus's, stress, or nutritional deficiency.

I know many people who have suffered headaches for many years and once they begin an effect nutritional program these headaches end.

The other thing I would do is get a netty potti. These are used to help clear out the sinus's and can be purchased at most pharmacys. It's safe and very easy to use and although it sound uncomfortable, the process is not uncomfortable at all and truly does clear the sinus's out.

For stress you could try meditation.

To relieve eye strain, what I've found effective is to cup the hands together, crossing at the fingers. Place the palm of the hand over the eyes and relax like this for about 10 minutes, allowing the eyes to completely relax.........You should see nothing but darkness. If you see white spots, or a grey blotch your eyes need time to relax.

If use all of the above myself and find I seldom suffer from a headache.

yah go to your doctor.
But here is some alternative routes while you wait for that appt book to kick in.
1) It might be stress related ( do you work in a office? Setting?) yes? try a cold compress on the forehead, a relaxing shower or this always helped me Epson salt bath (stay away from the music), drinking lots of water, a massage,

2) are you seeing Halo's on street lamps when you are driving? This can be a migrane attack (see Doc. immediately) Suggestion take Bayer asprin or Sufrid or Claritin etc. and try above suggestions,

3) Do the pain come with confusion?! Forgetfullness?
YES?! Have you slept walked while you were awake?
Doct. will problably make you take a MRI if Yes.
Other Solutions if not any of the answers listed above:
Buy the book REIKI (will need a friend or partner to assist)
Different types of Massages help.
When I used to have migrane attacks as a kid - my mom would massage my scalp and my feet and the pain went away.

(oh temp solutions when no one is around - left hand inbetw. the thumb and the pointer finger massage that area and sit up straight for about ten minutes)
