That would greatly affect and disrupt the main function of the heart. As the cells are not able to regenerate, the damage part become nonfunctional. That would greatly affect the main functioning of the organ as the normal physiological processes will be disrupted. Oxygenation will be altered on a damaged part which will end up necrosis or dying of the tissue (we call it as myocardial function). It would affect the perfusion of the entire heart as the organ circulation got some disruption. As a general effect, the heart won't be able to function properly that it could even stop to function. The over all effect as the result of cardiac malfunctions will be altered processes of blood circulation and problem with oxygen supply to the entire body. The heart muscles itself will be greatly damaged from oxygen depletion, the brain will greatly suffer, and the rest of the body system will end up shutting down when the problem remain uncorrected.

The part which is found to be affected might be remains in the damaged state. This is becasue of your statement that is the muscle cells are not multiplied. Depending upon the extent of the damage the patient survives or died.

The cause and extent of the damage should be analyzed and treatement should be started accordingly. if the damage is extreme then, to correct the damaged muscles artificial hearts or heart transplantation might be recommended.

In this case the organ would remain damaged. That's why heart attacks happen frequently in people who have damaged heart cells.
