Check with the guy, JV. He is one of the top contributors in this section. He hasn't been around for a while though, but you can email him. He is a MMA ringannouncer. He's offered to help guys in the past.

Not sure about New York but I would keep relocating in the back of my mind if you want to go big time into fighting in MMA. Most of the big cards take place in the west like Las Vegas, and California. While not all the fighters live in those locations you will receive more notice and interest and find more training facilities and training partners in those areas. Also out of sight-out of mind so to speak. So I think it will become increasingly harder to make it into the big time if you live out on the east coast; only time will tell. I also know that several of the states that approved it have now gone back and modified their stance on it and what they will allow. Illinois just did and you can no longer throw elbows and Missouri also while approving it threw out the use of elbows as well.

One thing that is in your favor is Atlantic City and its location with respect to you as well as Madison Square Garden. Both are big time sports meccas and perhaps they will start to offer big cards there like they currently hold in Vegas and California. Money as well as the rules that each state will allow probably will have a big impact on this and if it will happen or not. One of my friends who fought full contact relocated to California mid career so that she could acquire bigger paydays, more fights more easily, and eventually make it into movies or television all of which she did. If you don't want to consider relocating or its not an option then the next best thing is to get with a coach and school that is known and established and already has some good quality fighters who have fought on some big cards. The connections and reputation that they have already established can also benefit you.
