Nobody knows for sure, but the main theories are:

1. That's all folks.
2. You soul goes to heaven or hell (or a few other places, depending on your belief.
3. You are reincarnated into something else depending on your actions in your previous lives. Lowest on the totem pole is to be reincarnated as Sean Hannity.

Many people believe that the believer will go to heaven upon death. But the bible does not support this idea. The bible teaches that the believer goes to death which is across the chasm from hell. While the unbeliever goes to hell. This is supported by the fact that the bible teaches that the dead shall be raised at judgment. The bible further teaches that death and hell shall be thrown into the lake of fire at the end of the world. (Luke 16:19-31; ). The bible further teaches that we shall not all sleep, but all shall be changed. (I Corinthians 15:51). So it is evident we will not be in heaven, but in the depths of the earth. Whereby Paul says we are confident and willing to be absent from the body and present with the Lord (II Corinthians 5:8) he does not say that happens immediately upon death.( I Thessalonians 4:16-17):" For The Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord." This is clear that both the dead in Christ and the living shall be caught up together and "shall we ever be with the Lord." If the dead are already with the Lord, then they wouldn't need to be raised and the bible would not say "so" shall we ever be with the Lord, if they were already there.

As for the sting of death, which is sin, the believer does not feel the sting of death, because Christ carried his sins on the cross. (John 5:24) supports the concept of the believer going to death first. "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation, but is passed from death unto life." So when the dead are raised, the believer meets with Christ in the sky, and death is thrown into the lake of fire, and mortality becomes immortal.

(Revelation 14:4) tells us that only "the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth," are in heaven.

Your body is taken back my Mother Earth. If there is a soul or spirit that goes somewhere, we will only find out then. Everyone wants to know, but knowing is not possible. That's why we should enjoy the NOW that we know we have!

To be absent from the body is to be present before the Lord. And from their you will spend your eternity in which ever place you desired while on earth.
Lived for Christ, means you wanted to go to Heaven. Live for the world, then obviously you wanted to burn in hell, even if it was done ignorantly.
One must give up themselves or submission. To be a slave for Christ, is to live forever in eternity with him.

Everybody who knew you gather around to admire your cold dead corpse and tell nice sounding lies about how wonderful you are. Then they bury you and after that everybody divies up your stuff and then they all go home.
