You'll never finish it in a week. Just read the New Testament. You'll finish that easily. The first time I read the Bible it took me 2 years, but I was working full time and doing a lot of other stuff at the time.

If you try to read it cover-to-cover, I guarantee you lose interest by the middle of Leviticus.
There are formats set up where you read a few chapters a day and read the entire Bible over the course of a year, but a week is simply not enough.
If you really wanted to get something out of it, I would suggest reading the Gospels of Mark and John and leaving it at that:
--the shortest two Gospels (16 & 21 chapters)
--Matthew & Luke tell the same essential story as Mark; John's Gospel is different in presentation and theme.
--Mark is written specifically to a non-Jewish audience, so he explains many of the customs, traditions, and references that you might not understand otherwise.
--Mark describes Jesus's actions and ministry, while John focuses more on his relationships.
I won't go through the entire cycle, but reading the Bible in order can even be confusing. It isn't broken down purely by chronology but by subject. The book of Psalms was a compilation of works spanning several hundred years. The Prophets are separated from the OT history, even though they take place in the time of the Divided Kingdom and Exile to Babylon.
Try just those two books--that's still 5 chapters a day. Then decide if you want to read more.

You might be able to.... depends how fast you read and how much time you got... many do this in a year, some in 3 months.... you dont have to read the whole thing to understand the point in the bible... read the Gospel of John, one or two of the ones Paul wrote, John 1-3 and 1st and 2nd Peter, Genesis, Exodus, Isaiah, Malachi .... those are the basics. The New Testament refers to a lot of the Old Testament.

I can only answer the amount of time part, and that depends on YOU...... I am on my third time and each time takes me months, I do not have a lot of free time, and I am a fast reader, but, to read through the Bible with spead is not reading it, that is just zipping through it....... It needs to be read at a slow pace, thought about in certain places, words looked up for better understanding, etc........ Now, the part about you getting anything out of it ?? Well, that is between you and God....... God opens the hearts and minds and gives wisdom......... just the way it is........ *smile*...... God bless

I think it's a lot to take in like any other book that length. If you are really wanting to get understanding of it, I'd stick with about 3 chapters a day. A lot is said in just that. And I would start with the NT. Then go to the old so you understand the symbolism better.

a standard Bible is anywhere between 1500 and 1700 pages. so if you can handle reading 214 or 243 pages a day, then sure! you won't get a single bit out of it though. try going it over in a few months. you can grasp a lot out of 20 pages a day for 91 days.

Don't know, depends on how fast you read?
What you get out of it depends on your level of comprehension. Do you read with a high level of comprehension usually? If so, you'll probably get something out of it then.
Really though, I'd recommend these instead:

and for books, you can get these from your library. if they don't have them, it's definitely worth asking them to do an interlibrary loan, they can get them from other libraries.

If you are reading a plain modern English version like the New Living Translation, you will get more understanding. Go ahead and do it and see what you think about it. Don't stop when you are finished, keep reading for the rest of your life.
