You will find, if you are accepted and complete medical school, that you will probably change your mind several times. You will have a LOT of time to figure out what you like during the third year of medical school.
I'd concentrate on getting through college :) Enjoy that time!!!!

Hi! All three areas or specialties are 'rewarding' and 'fun' depending on your personal definition of those terms.. If by 'rewarding' you mean 'self-fulfillment', again, they are both. It really depends on where your interest lies.Entering into any of those fields require patience and skills. I can only tell you this. In any surgical field, the outcome, be it good or bad, is dramatic and very overt.A person in pain with appendicitis will be instantly relieved upon doing an appendectomy as compared to an IM patient whose illness may not be as overt and may take several diagnostic procedures before a diagnosis is made. It may also take time before symptoms and signs disappear.
If you are thinking of financial rewards, well....it's a known fact that once you are operated on, a lot of money is involved.
But then again, any field that you think you can excel in will be 'fun' and 'rewarding' if you enjoy what you are doing.

Your question shows that you have little idea of what you want to do. Those of us who like the OR tend to feel nauseated at the thought of internal medicine, and those who like internal medicine steer clear of the OR.
You deciding NOW what specialty you are going to choose is like a first-grader choosing a college.
But that's ok.
You cannot possibly know what specialty you are going to like until you TRY them, as a medical student in your third and fourth years. You might find that psychiatry, or anesthesiology, or pathology or something else entirely is the thing that you love.
I was going to be a pediatrician before I started medical school - now I shudder at the thought of it. We all find our calling, and you will too.
Good luck with whatever you choose.

Definitely OB-GYN. You get to help women in all the wonderful transitions in their life. And best of all, your patients won't always be "sick". A healthy woman giving birth naturally, just needs you to help her with the miracle of life. Also in OB and gynecology you will still get to perform surgery. But you should do the one that is most fun and interesting to you. Which area of your residency did you love the most?

If you enjoy treating patients any speciality is fun. All are rewarding.
