The tufts are underneath the eyes, just on top of the bridge of the nose. We suspect he might have Dachshund, Cocker Spaniel, or Shi Tsu in him. But I didn't think any of these breeds had strange little mustaches!

Shih Tzus have hair on their short little noses that grows in the opposite direction, like a chrysanthemum flower. Google some Shih Tzu puppy pix to see how funny & cute it looks.

Sounds like some sort of terrier to me. My mother bred shi tsu dogs for lots of years so I'm pretty familiar with them -- your description doesn't sound like anything similar to that. My guess is a terrier.

my dog toby is a schnauzer and he has eyebrows and a mustache. maybe youve found a schnauzer mutt! (great dog btw)
