James 5:14-16
King James Version
14Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
15And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
16Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
Generally, sin is responsible for all ills that may afflict man. However, the man that is afflicted is not always the one who has sinned but rather the reaper of the consequence that was sent down through his linieage as shown in the following scripture and what we now term as generational curses.
Exodus 20:5
Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
In the same manner, some afflictions are there in order to reveal the glory of God as shown in St. John 9(King James Version)
1And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.
2And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?
3Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.
We should in all our seeking, seek for God's forgiveness, and this should be a regular practice and a lifestyle. Its the only way to ensure that we are completely blameless before His throne.
We must make the presence of God our dwellin place, rather than being mere visitors, if we are to remain under His shadow.
Psalm 91
1He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty
God bless you

Yes! Amen!
Forgiveness of sins I cannot do without in this earthly life.
Until we call sin, sin there is no forgiveness.
We are not doing anyone a favor until sin is exposed and forgiven......then the celebration begins!(so to speak)
captives are set free!!!
It starts in the Church for we will be judged before others......
Keep your heart with all diligence.

Well from personal experience, I have both seen & heard about ppl that have had terrible "sicknesses" yet if asked if they would rather receive healing, or remain in their present "condition", they replied that they only wanted that the Lord be Glorified however HE chose that Glorification process to be. (needless to say they were NOT healed, but continued on...proclaiming the glorious name of the Savior as their Lord & Redeemer, looking forward to the day when they would see Him face to face! One of these precious souls has gone on to see that Face..smiling sweetly on the day of his "release!" ) Speaking as a person that has endured much affliction myself, I do not think I would change anything as the issues that I have been through help to strenghten my own faith. They cause me to rely on my Savior more & more. To follow after Jesus Christ is NEVER an easy road as some claim..it is frought with peril & hardship. (tribulations) Yet for all that "up hill battle" we WILL be rewarded! This world is NOT our home...We endure because we LOVE our Lord & because we look forward to a future & a hope! A hope that will be worth ANY trial, or tribulation. But it is never an "easy" thing to accomplish. Trust & obediance are required, even when the darkness & the sorrow totally surround us.
Think not that just because you are sick or enduring "trials" that you are NOT forgiven...Paul himself endured such terrible trials that he even despaired of life, as did Job.
Yet for all that they & others have endured, they have gone on to receive that "crown of righteousness"! What glory that will be revealed! To endure these "momentary", earthly trials so that we may earn those precious "crowns" that we may cast them at His (Christ's) precious feet!
Health or wealth or other "earthly" issues are not to be equated with our sins "forgiveness"...Seeking Christ with all our being will confirm our relationship with Christ. For the soul that seeks the Lord will shine (even when he himself does not recognise or see that "shining" of faith) Faith grows the more we follow the Lord, the more we desire to learn of Him (Jesus) the more we earnestly want to increase our knowledge of just who He is! As Christ Himself said "The pure in heart shall see God". The heart that is being "purified" is the one that is seeking Christ with everything he has!
Seek and you shall find.
Be Blessed of God.

Sin and sickness are related, if we feed the body and
starve the Soul we have only deprived our fellow man.
Flesh is our temporary home, but it still needs compassion
as well, the total gift is unconditional love for both.

Yes, you are correct, I see that quite often now a days.... If I had to choose between a "healing" of my body or a "filling" of my soul.. I would take a filling over a healing any day. Once I get to heaven, my glorified body will know no pain!!

And James 2:14 says"What good is it my brothers,if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such a faith save him?Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him,"Go I wish you well; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it?" We must have faith yes But faith in action.

You're right, taking care of our souls should be #1. We will be in our physical bodies for a short amount of time, but we'll have our souls for eternity.
