My friend is a very smart guy, funny, very very nice. BUT, he has this weird like giggly BUST OUT loud nervous laugh that he does all the time - very high-pitched and silly sounding. You can just see people look at him like WTF? He doesn't realize he does this I guess. I feel like I want to say "Dude, ,you need to tone that big ol guffaw giggly laugh down because it's screechy loud." But, how the heck do you say that to someone without hurting their feelings?

He didn't used to have this laugh. We've been friends for years. It's just so strange because he has just started laughing like this in the last year or so, like this over exaggerated bust out guffaw even over something not even remotely funny.

I think you should be upfront and honest with him. Tell him his laugh is really loud and it makes people look at him. Tell him that you just wanted him to know so he would be more aware of what he's doing and offer to help him change his laugh.

I love a funny laugh. I had a friend that sounded like a woodpecker. People would turn & look. Another friend who was a tiny little thing had a laugh that sounded like a lumberjack. I love it. I don't think he could change his laugh even if he wanted to, without stifling his presonality. I say let it rip.

Actions speak louder than words. The next time he breaks out into that crazy, loud laugh, stick your fingers in your ears & he'll get the message.
