i wouldnt go to cnn because it would look like he just joined it for the money, which is embarassing and not something you would want on national tv.

Military bonuses are paid half at the time enlisting and the the remaining balance is paid out annually divided equally each year reaming in the enlistment. So after taxes and claiming the bonus as income at the end of the year that 7500 will be about 3500 .Check with the person that did the paper work

Okay first before you contact a lawyer. If he just enlisted he needs to turn in the paperwork to his new unit. they are the ones that put the bonus paperwork thru. Then if that unit does everything right he will get it. He will probably only get about $5000 after taxes. Trust me I know this because my husband got the same bonus. His unit had to do the paperwork not the place where he enlisted. He would probably have to take it in during one of his drills.

I wouldn't over react yet. My girlfriend went through the same thing when her husband enlisted in the national guard. I believe it was just playing the waiting until they received it.
However, if you don't receive it within 4 months, I would contact the finance department and state your case.

He needs to go through his chain of command first!! Let them solve the problem. No matter how low CNN may get, why would they touch something like this? It has only been 2 months.

Did he come in to the Guard after active duty. Is he in the try one program. Is he MOS qualified. Most importantly did he get a bonus in writing.

If he changed his MOS he will not get the bonus until he is MOS qualified. Also the Guard pays its bonuses in lump sums. You get paid your reenlistment bonus the day after your current enlistment ends.

Ok, you don't get the bonus until you become MOS qualified. Also, he has to report to one drill following AIT. If he is Prior Service, he has to report to his first drill and be MOS qualified in the position he enlisted into.

Before you raise a big stink. Have him RESPECTFULLY ask to speak to the recruiting station commander or area NCOIC. There may be something that your husband failed to do in order to recieve his bonus (like take a drug test, etc)

Pffft. Have him get a copy of his LES (leave and earnings statement) and go to Disbursing. Speak to the disbursing officer and have the bonus situation explained to him.

Heading off to CNN will have THEM go to the disbursing officer, and they will make your husband look foolish.

depends on the KIND of bonus it was. some are not paid out until after certain conditions are met, such as training, or completing a certain number of drills.

additionally, if the bonus was not listed in his contract in writing, he is out of luck.

have him go over his contract again.
