Look on petfinder.com Once you enter your zip code it will start with rescues and shelters closest to you and work out. Many rescues will work w/ out of state adoptions as well. Petfinder also has a classifieds section, you can check that too.Unfortunately beagles are considered by many to be strictly hunting dogs but I read somewhere that they actually are 1 of the top recommended family pets. Supposed to be great w/ children, playful, sweet tempered. I have met many and havent met 1 I didnt like or think was adorable!Good luck! Great choice adopting!

add- OMG! Daisy is SO CUTE!!! Im in love! Going thru a rescue is a GREAT option as they will be able to provide you with more info and if she will make a good fit for your family!

I was told there is a Beagle Rescue site (I've never checked it out) on the Internet, you could check with your Humane Society, Find A Pet, Pet Smart and many more I'm sure.
Beagles have a very good temperament (I've only had small Beagles) and they love to play, are very smart and will be protective of their owner if necessary.
I had a small female growing up and I now have a small male mix that I adopted that is just terrific!!!! I wouldn't give him up for anything in the world!!!!!!!!
My little guy has even taught our German Shepherd a thing or two (he was the second adopted pet) and keeps him in line--LOL!!!!!!

Took a minute (actually a number of minutes) to check out Daisy. She's precious. She also got some of those cute little appearance qualities that are only seen on mixed beagles. She has a very friendly face, and she also sits in a motherly manner. You might wonder what makes a face friendly, and what makes a seating position motherly, and I'd be pressed to try to explain. All I can say is that I owned a beagle as a youngster, and I just know. We had hunting dogs (about a half dozen beagles) and also my beagle who wasn't used for hunting. The hunting dogs were just as friendly as my beagle. They were all business when hunting, but very friendly when not hunting. And that's not to say that they were viscious when hunting. They aren't that kind of hunters. They just chase and howl. No snarling, no biting, just running and howling.

My beagle had a habit of tapping his front paws up and down alternating from one paw to the other as though he was trying to tap dance. His name, as you might have guessed, was Tapper.

Whenever I was down in the dumps (having been scoulded by my parents) and pouting or shedding tears, he was forever the happy one. He would tap away for a while and then nudge me with his nose to get me going down the country road for fun and good times.

He was also loving and warm. If I sat on the glider on the porch, he'd jump up and lie down next to me and rest his head on my lap until I was ready to go someplace. He'd follow me everywhere. I miss those carefree fun days with my dog.

Wish you all the fun and happiness a beagle can bring to your life. And Daisy looks like she could be that special one who could do that too if you find it in your heart to adopt her and make her feel wanted. I'm sure she'll reward you with much happiness and fun. You won't regret it.

like everyone else is saying..... petfinder.com, enter your zip code and.....ta-da! lots of doggies to choose from. I'v never had a beagle but i've heard throught the grapevine they like to howl. This may not be true but it's a good thing to take into consideration. And someone already mentioned they are a gundog/ hunting breed so they tend to "searching" things out and chase critters.

P.S.
Thanks for wanting to ADOPT and not BUY. There are so many unwanted pets that really need a home like yours.

Beagles are good dogs because they are smart have energy to burn and are good all around dogs. Mine was a male and it had a musky oder so baths are good. They are a hunting dog and they have a quieter yowl than a large coon dog. Give the dog some time to get comfortable and they are usually quite affectionate.

Check Petfinder.com and enter your zip code- chances are there will be some available to adopt in your area.

Beagles like to howl, they are super scent dogs, and some people say they're tough to train, but if you use positive reinforcement techniques they're a snap to train.

beagles are hunting dogs so they have a lot of energy and follow their noses....which often leads them to trouble....you will need to provide a lot of exercise (little walks won't cut it) as they are bred to perform a job.
