10 bucks....Petsmart. If you don't cut his nails, it could lead to serious problems. Please be responsible if you want to own a dog.

A groomers or an Vet can help. I take my dog to the vets and they use a dremel tool to file his nails down. It doesn't hurt and only takes about 10 minutes. It cost about 10 to 15 dollars.

Why can't you take him to a groomer or your vets? They are trained to do that and they could get him to calm down. And even if you were able to cut his nails, you could still hurt him.

try doing them in the tub when you give him a bath. Sometimes this works. I did this for a while w/ mine than I just put him in the tub when I had to clip his nails and now I can do them whenever as long as he realizes it's grooming time not play time. I also reward him w/ a treat when he's done. Make sure you have the treat w/ you so he associates his good behavior w/ the reward.,

Take him for a REALLY long walk so he is really tired and just want to sleep, get another person to hold him still while you cut his nails. Don't cut them too short or you could cut the quick.
If you still can't cut them, you r gonna have to take him to the vet. They will show you how.
If u dont cut his nails, he could have things go wrong with him, so don't just leave them if you can't do it.
That would be like letting ur own nails GROW and GROW and GROW and GROW and GROW and GROW................

Catch him, hold him, and clip the nails. Make sure you know how to do it - it gets confusing - or ask your vet about it when you go for a check up (it should be soon if you just got the dog).

Basic obedience would help the dog a lot. Is the dog going to bite you to get away? If not, get some guts and be the dominant one. Put the dog on a leash and hook the leash somewhere so he can't go far. Then grab a leg and hold it firm with your arm and go. Use a firm voice to tell the dog to sit and stay.

A groomer should do it. They bleed really bad if you cut into the quick then they'll be scared next time.

Ever considered strapping him to a treadmill, resurfaced with a giant piece of 'belt-sandpaper'? Seiously, the vets know just how to 'getterdone'! It only costs about $20 bucks. Well worth it! You can as they say, 'kill two birds with one stone' that way, the treadmill will tucker him out too!

Your vet is the best bet. THey can sedate him and do his nails for you. It does cost, but it is well worth it to not be cut up by the nails.

Just leave them alone. Your dog will file his own nails when digging and walking on concrete surfaces. Please don't try to do this yourself, you could injure the dog. Your dog will survive better with longer nails than with an infection from you cutting them the wrong way.
