Hello, Common Sense:
Yes, Jesus bypassed the priests and chose common people with little education. You will recall that God says: "My strength is perfected in weakness."
But His efforts were still turned to the priests, even after they killed Him. Luke tells us in Acts 6:7
"And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and A GREAT COMPANY OF THE PRIESTS WERE OBEDIENT TO THE FAITH.
The real determination of Spiritual discernment is a humble and contrite heart. That is why God says of the Bible code that the wicked will do wickedly... and not understand; but the wise shall understand.

And you don't think that had something to do with the Herodians deposing the Zadokite priesthood? Read up on the conflict. Jesus' choice of 12 disciples was a clear indication that he intended to restore the integrity of the priesthood. Consider also that "priest" is a form of "prest" or "presbyter." If you want to see how important that is, look up the word "elder" in the New Testament.

Look I'm agnostic, but there's a ton of flaws in what you just said. Jesus says there is a purpose for everyone. Everyone needs to carry out God's plan. He was all about hanging out with the tax collectors, lepers, prostitutes, etc. You don't need to be a priest to carry out what God wants you to do. It would actually make less of a point if he chose a bunch of priests. I don't believe in any of this, but don't be ignorant, there's a ton of smart questions you can ask to question Christians here.

i think that he values all people. i do not think that being single is a requirement that he expects or requires. some people decide to be single so they can give more of their time and devote one hundred percent of their relationship to God. This is great for them. I do not understand Mary in the Catholic religion. I do not think that is right , but I do expect we'll see a few Catholics in heaven. I think they will be "pardoned" if you will for some of their mistakes concerning Mary. I do not know for sure though. It also references being a jealous God / not to have others before him. I do not know how he would feel about in having a dead Mary as an accessory. Nothing is recorded about her coming back to life / being in the loop of things that I know about. I'd like to see catholics just go direct and deal with main players. :-) The virgin mary is not a answering service. She'd dead and decomposed in the grave.

Maybe Jesus wanted us common people to know we can be special too. We not have to be a famous celebrity, Politician, or a Priest to make a difference in someone's life.

That's just the point, Jesus chose common unlettered men. He was about to take the Priests power away.

Jesus despised priests, scripture, and even Yahweh. He was a rebel and made his own religion and said "follow me". Jesus was his own god, a mystic, poet, and artist. How those ignoramuses associated him with Judaism is beyond me (actually it had to do with politics and power).

The Pharisees and Sadjucees rejected Christ and crucified him. Thise were the "priests" of his day. Would it make any sense for Christ to choose as an apostle someone who did not believe his message, and wanted to see him dead?

Jesus chose people from different backgrounds who were sinners and who were humble to demonstrate that he came to save all who accept him.
btw, there were no priests back then.
