He says he thinks of you ONCE a day, which is hardly a lot, even though he said that he thinks of you a lot. I think of many people just ONCE a day, but I would not say that I think of them a lot , and I certainly don't "like" them.

He may just be reliving his old feelings for you. You already know him so you need to take things especially slow now to see if his feelings are genuine or if he is just reliving the "Glory Days". Sorry to be blunt but that's what I would be thinking with an old girlfriend.
