elements is for like editing photos like touching them up, dealing with the tone that kind of thing photoshop is for creating from scratch editing photos and doing a lot more than elements but if your a photographer go with elements graphic designers use photoshop really

Both PhotoShop Elements and PhotoShop do the same things - editing images being primary. Elements is a limited version of PhotoShop with not as many features. It's stripped down and therefor cheaper.

If you are serious about using PhotoShop, then save your money to buy the full version which is now PhotoShop CS3. It's great and what I use but it is expensive.
