My 9mm holds 15 and the above answer about stopping power is completely wrong ... depending on the rounds .. a 9 mm can have just as much stopping power as a .45

The 5.7mm FN holds 20 rounds in the standard magazine with an available extension for 10 more. Glocks are high capacity with sixteen and seventeen total rounds. You can buy aftermarket magazines for the Ruger P-89 which hold thirty rounds for a total of 31 with one in the chamber. There is a snail-drum for the old Luger .9mm that holds thirty+ rounds. There may be others I'm unaware of but 30 seems about the maximum practical number of rounds for a handgun. After that there is a weight/space problem.
Best.

I think "whyus" is closest to right. The 5.7mm pistol is not common and is pricey but does hold about 20 rounds in its standard magazine.
I had a GB Styer, 9mm, that would hold 18 + 1 rounds in its standard magazine.
You can get extended magazines for many semi auto guns that will hold a lot of bullets. I am assuming you are asking about the stock mag. for the handgun.

My Glock can hold 33 rounds. G-17 holds 17 9mm which sits mostly flush. The 33 round mag. hangs 3" out the bottom.

Look it up on Youtube "Glock 18 298 rounds"
the last magazine was a custom-made Beta-C mag that fits in the Glock 18, holds 100 rounds.

9mm Does hold a lot of rounds but the stopping power is for **** if your looking for something with a lot of stopping power go with a .44 magnum or 50cal pistol. And yes they have 50Caliber pistols but there not cheap.
44Magnum holds 10-12 rounds Or 6 if u get a Revolver.
50Caliber holds10 Maybe15 Rounds most likely 10.

Realistically, my Beretta Px4 Storm holds 17+1 9mm, Springfield XD 9mm holds 16+1
My XD .45 holds 13.
Now glocks and even some Berettas have 20 or 30 round mags but it totally not needed. If you cannot shoot your target in two shots you need to have a little more range time.

Para-Ord p-18 9mm 18+1 if I am not mistaken. F&N has a 5.7 that holds 20 rounds.

If you can find one, Calico Arms made a .22 LR pistol that held 100 rounds, and a 9 mmP that held 50 rounds.

All wrong.
The old Luger had a cylinder feed magazine that held around 50 shots.
