I had a similar problem (not as severe as yours) and Zantac (back when u could only get it with a prescription) actually took care of the problem. I guess if you have tried all of that and it still persists then go to your doctor and have them give you something different (anything that you haven’t tried yet).

Your medicines that you have taken over the years are making your acid reflux worse. Acid reflux and heartburn are the same thing and they are caused by the same thing. You think they are caused by too much acid in your stomach, right? Because that is what your doctors tell you. That is not what causes them. They are caused by not having enough acid in your stomach. Think about it this way. You have two buckets. One is full of acid and one has only 1 inch of acid in the bottom. You drop a large peice of plastic (both the same size) into each. Which one do you think will get eaten faster? Obviously the one in the bucket full of acid. It is the same with your food. You need to put more acid in your stomach to help your food digest. Go to the store and buy apple cider vinegar. Drink 1T before each meal for a month, and stop taking your "medication". You should notice a significant difference. I used to get cronic heartburn and acid reflux and I tried this.. I was skeptical, but I haven't had heartburn in over 6 months. And though it tastes bad, it is far cheaper than all the medications you have tried. Then, if you do get heartburn after this, occasionally, you can just take some apple cider vinegar when the symptoms occur.

Jason, what your dealing with certainly is not reflux. 14 years. his would mean you started at 3 years of age.
There is a flap/ valve at the lower end of your esophagus near your stomach, This valve could have not formed correctly during your mother's pregnancy, or your having issues with this area of your digestive tract. Bottom line is your going to need diagnostics for this issue. A simple upper GI investigation will clear up and discover anything remarkable. It's good to note that constant exposure to stomach acid on the esophagus area will in fact produce some pretty serious issues down the road. Have this investigated ASAP.

You probably should not drink anything with caffeine, eat anything acidic or spicy and definitely sleep with your upper body propped up.. Acid reflux can cause MANY complications later in life if untreated including Esophagal cancer.

stay away from acidic foods such as fresh fruit, pop, tomatoes, etc.
incline the head of your bed. raise up the matress and place a folded blanket under it.
try to eat a small snack before bedtime, such as crackers or a piece of toast. this will absorb some of the acid.
also talk to your doctor about the symptoms and see if you can increase your medicine.

walk around outside when it starts and drink from a bottle of water, think good thoughts, talk to people, say hi to everyone to stay calm, using self control instead of pills is the way to live longer and better.
