I recently was at an Omni Hotel in L.A. and a couple very nice looking passed by me, and said to me (as I was only person passing them by) " Oh she looks poor, and fat. Is that a girl or guy?"

Another time someone outright laughed in my face as I was passing by.

I don't expect pity or sympathetic people, but what if I passed by and said something cruel to you or others who outright demean me? I don't mind people criticizing me, as long as it is done in a secretive manner when I am long gone.

People like that are jerks and not worth your time. Im over weight too and people act like its okay to talk about us like we're not even there. If we starved ourselves and puked up every meal then everyone would be sympathetic towards us. But since we dont, we get made fun of, because it's still socially acceptable to make fun of fat people.

Now that people are not smoking it seems like 'fat' is the new thing to be anti, and people with a bullying streak seem to think that gives them a kind of licence to be as rude as they like and feel 'justified' about it.

Nevertheless, it comes down to the same thing ~ they are no more and no less than bullies who are using you to play their petty power games.

While it is hurtful, you can rest assured their comment says a lot more about them than it does about you.

They are rude, ignorant people, and obviously feel very small and worthless inside, or they would not need to get their 'kicks' from hurting others.

You may be overweight, but unless you are a cruel person who treats others with contempt, you will always be worth more than these folks, however 'skinny and modern' they may appear.

Also, you can take control of your weight and manage it to be a healthier, happier person (I have tried Weight Watchers and it's GREAT!). People like this will never be happy until they recognise their own problems.

Good luck and best wishes! :-)

Aren't fat people hard of hearing? Kidding. But you would think so the way some people just say what they want no matter if they are within earshot or not. It's very mean spirited & ignorant. Do they think a heavy person just never noticed how big they were? Come on.

interesting, isn't it? you can't call a black person a "n", and you can't call a gay a (didn't know the word was forbidden, but that's exactly what I mean), and there are all sorts of minorities which you must not insult.
but everyone, everyone, including those alleged minorities feel that they have the right to say anything they want to about or to us. yeah I'm one, too.
last week at the grocery store, some old European woman kept asking me if it "make the exercise"? I just stared at her, and thought she'd figure it out and go away. but she didn't. so I said right to her, "it's people like you that make me want to go home and kill myself. I know what I look like, and yes, I'm ashamed of it. but I don't need you, a total stranger to give me a hard time". and I was suicidal for the next 4 days. just from that encounter.
we have an invisible "target" on us, and everyone considers us fair game.
why? I couldn't say, just bad manners, and maybe we're the only people left that can be bullied without legal ramifications.

Our society accepts making exciting of obese human beings as though it is a pastime, no longer the scientific issue it is. Comedians like Jay Leno constantly make exciting of fat human beings. would not make it suitable. all and sundry who could make exciting of a scientific concern is actual an fool. whilst each physique is impolite or merciless to you, whisper a prayer for them. they want it. you recognize your well worth isn't according to what others say to you. you're remarkable and important to the only eyes that somewhat count quantity, God's eyes. purely enable those comments pass, it may be troublesome however the worldwide is crammed with impolite and ignorant human beings. you won't be able to complication approximately them or you will spend your finished lifestyles annoying approximately them.

Maybe to stop it you can just hang around your friends and family. I admire your honesty and bravery. Those people have no respect for you, and they are probably only hiding their own insecurities. The fact that you said you don't care about people offending you as long as it isn't open and public, I take it that you have had this problem for a while. As long as you're comfortable with yourself, in my opinion, you're doing pretty well. Keep hanging in there!

Just try to laugh it off, or embarrass them back.

Like if someone laughs at you just say "boy, you're easily entertained!" and laugh too.

If people make comments about you, make some comments back. "Oh, those girls look shallow and immature. I wonder if they like being judged by perfect strangers on the streets."

unfortunately, people can be cruel and not even realize it. And others can be simply cruel.

I don't know a soul who hasn't been demeaned in public before though. It's not a nice thought... but it can be a comforting one sometimes.
