I bring this up consistantly whenever some far-rightist bigot whines about otherwise peaceful, law-abiding Muslims not publicly condemning terrorism enough to their satisfaction. Why should those who have no control over these extremists be compelled to apologize for actions they never done themselves. It is glaringly at odds with their otherwise firm stance on personal responsibility. (Of course, the far-rightists truly mean that personal responsibility should be adhered to by everyone but the far-rightists themselves.) Rarely would those of any other faith be called out to apologize for the atrocities in the name of their faith (especially fundamentalist Christianity).

Typical double-standard indeed!

Apologies in advance for a long answer...I feel it will answer your question thoroughly, however, and therefore suggest that you consider reading it all. I would truly appreciate that, thank you! ;)

Thank you for taking this into consideration and not being ignorant or uninformed about this issue, I really appreciate it. It puts a smile on my face that you just proved that you do not have to be Muslim to realize this.

The Western Media has caused the west to believe in their point of view, and only giving one side of the story blinds the people viewing: that is almost everybody. It has made its "victims" extremely ignorant, and I am truly proud of those who see through its schemes. The Media has forced its viewers to believe that Islam is a violent, bloody, intolerant religion, but in reality this is actually the opposite. If people would stop accepting their television sets as their teachers, more people would know the actual truth about Islam. The Media reports misleading stories, gross exaggerations, inaccurate information, and false statements about Islam and Muslims to undermine the religion, and unfortunately, this propaganda is a success--many, MANY Americans believe everything they hear on the news or read in the newspaper. What they fail to realize is that what they read/hear is only one point of view of a bias Media that has been criticizing Muslims with false information vigorously since 9/11.

Terrorism is CONDEMNED in Islam; it is not allowed, period. Neither is innocent murder, suicide of any kind, forced marriages or forced conversions. These are all misleading fabrications composed by the Media. You can't always believe what you hear.

Although such actions undoubtedly do or did occur at some point in time, these were/are not actions imposed by Islam, but rather the actions of the misguided people who have misunderstood the meaning of true Islam.

Terrorists are not true Muslims; they use Islam as a mask to cover up their dirty work, and give Islam a bad name. Most of them are only Muslim by name, yet are still accused of acting upon Islamic teachings, when in actuality, they are not. It is not fair for the majority of Muslims, who oppose terrorism and denounce violence that is occurring. Unfortunately, the Media will never let this be known, making it look like Muslims support these radical actions, when in reality they absolutely do not.

Please refer to the following video. It is very true, and will provide valuable insight; I strongly recommend watching it:

Steve N:

Tsk, tsk tsk. Yet another ignorant. Not surprising. Actually, many Muslims and imams DO speak out/have spoken out against the terrorism and violence. I, as a Muslim, am strongly opposed to these idiotic terrorists who are giving all other Muslims a bad name. A Muslim terrorist is like a Christian having premarital sex in the name of God, for God. It just doesn't make sense, right? We Muslims DO speak out, the but the media silences us to give the impression that we are silent and "secretly approve" of these actions. Well you are absolutely WRONG. and unfortunately yet another victim of the mind control of the media. Good luck with that.

Well why do blacks want reparations from me for something my ancestors did(well not me personally, but you know)?

Why do Germans have to face criticism about the Holocaust when most of the people alive weren't even there.

It's not just the Muslims...and it's not just "a few" who have done it...but many.

That's like asking "why must Catholic parishioners apologize for the molestations?"....it's not fair, to any people, but I don't see you bringing that up.

True Muslims have to condone violence to spread the faith. Otherwise they would have to deny their founder's words and methods. They have the opposite problem that Christianity has:

Christians are faulted for the select few that don't live how Christ said to live (negating their right to be called Christian). Yet on the other hand the world praises the select few peaceful (counterfeit) Muslims, that are not a representative of the true nature of Islam. Way to go illogical world...

You are right. Nearly every day some idiot asks why muslims dont speak out and denounce this and that. It isnt newsworthy and no one wants to hear the truth. It is easier to blame muslims for every little thing than to get off ones duff and actually learn what islam says about this and that.

I feel I have to apologize for the idiocy of George W. Bush, and I never voted for him.

I imagine it's the same thing. We are associated with people whom we have no desire to associate with, but because we are linked through one fashion or another, we are perceived together. Muslims are all Muslim, by definition. Americans are similarly all American. We must share the guilt.

This is the way all people feel when they enter a foreign country. Being from the USA has not been a pick nick of late either. Welcome to the real world. Sometimes it sucks. Some day we will learn. But I doubt it.

Isn't it the same thing when Christians are attacked for things that extremists do in the name of Christianity. Muslims need to be stand up against the terrorists since now they are making this a worldwide effort against all other religions.

You mean the same way innocent white people made to feel they must apologize for slavery?

Or the same way innocent black people are made to feel they must apologize for gangsterism?

Or how about the same way legal immigrants are made to feel they must apologize for jumping the border?

I could go on and on with this.

How about everybody stops worrying so much about getting their poor little feelings hurt. One day this country is going to be in big trouble because we were too nice.
