things have a physical level of existence but what about ideas?
for an idea to exist does it need just one person to think of it?
can an idea (god) exist beyond the people who believe in it?
think of whatever you want to...it exists now as an idea (in your mind) but if you didnt think of it , would it have ever existed???
would it have existed as a possibility waiting for someone to make it exist by thinking of it? or it just exists from the moment someone thinks of it and therefore its existence is just "created" by whoever thinks it?
too phylosophical i think for many people in here

existance vs reality...everything that exists must be real???? then we are just talking about physical level of existence.
a unicorn exists since when you say unicorn we all draw the same image in our minds but it is not real, it is an existing imaginary being

nh why not as an idea?? why existence means able to be perceived? a unicorn is not real but it exists, the idea of the unicorn exists and since a unicorn was "created" to be fiction then we may say that a unicorn exists, it is not real but it exists

plown...you said it..."to me" of course i didnt exist "to you" but since my existence is all evidence needed to proof my existence i dont need you to believe in me to exist, since my existence lies on the physical level but if my existance was on the ideal level i would need of you acknowledging me for me to exist

Thinking does not equal reality. On a physical level, a thought is a chemical reaction in the human brain, not the thing actually "thought" of.
So that does not mean that a god is real, just because people believe in it. Does that also make unicorns real? Or Freddy Krueger? Or the Loch Ness Monster? Humans have thought of many things that are either physically impossible or unrealized.
But not every idea remains in the realm of a human brain.
Take technology. Technology is exciting. It is a product of thought, and humans create technology within the limits of a physical reality. That does not mean that the technology exists before it has been produced, but it needed a brain to create it.
As god would be considered omnipotent, omniscient, and completely in control of our universe, there would be no way for humans to actually "create" a god because everything we create by necessity fits within limited physical laws. For the same reason that you cannot build a spacesuit that takes you across the universe in a second, you cannot build a god.

Christianity is a belief system, you simply have to choose wether or not you want to believe in it or not... it is not an IDEA....every move we make in life is a choice not an idea...The existence of God is simply a choice...except HIM or reject HIM......If you understood that, your mind would not be so twisted and confused. The only idea we may have of GOD is perhaps, what He looks like, because no man(human) has ever seen the true image of God. But God does exist in our hearts in an emotion we all call LOVE. If people are too stupid to look around at creation and all that is on this earth and still try to deny the existence of a CREATOR, then just let them live in stupidity.... I know I would not be alive right now if God did not exist....

Here's a lesson in logic. A child goes to public school one day and they are debating the existence of God. The lovely educated teacher states, God is not visible, therefore God would not exist. With that being the case, a little girl stands up in the back of the class and says "Class, do you see the teacher's pencil?" the class said yes. the little girl said "Class, do you see the teacher's book?", the class again confirmed what they saw. The little girl then said "Class, do you see the teacher's brain?" and nobody said a word. So she added, "Based on what we've learned today, if we don't see it, it must not exist".
There may be more to just believing to know that God does exist. To some, we hear him, feel his presence and appreciate the gifts he's given us. Others haven't begun to open their eyes yet.

The existence of a lot of things on this earth formed with a simple idea. Look at Leonardo da Vinci; I am sure in his time he was called crazy because of his visions and drawings of different technology (i.e helicopters, tanks, etc). But those drawings and ideas inspired the creation of them many centuries later.
In the medical world, physicians use placebo's (a substance having no pharmacological effect), for example, on patients with an addiction to pain medication. In their mind, patients believed they are receiving pain medication and claim it managed their pain.
I guess the point I am trying to make is that the human mind is extraordinary and phenomenal. I think that as long as you do believe in something, it does exist.....if not to others, it does to you.

I think that God exists because some people believe in God, and some others don't believe in God. By pressing the idea that there is a god, theists keep God alive in their minds. On the other hand, atheists keep God alive because they concentrate on their idea that God does not exist. But stating that an idea (God) does NOT exist, they keep that idea alive.
I think that ideas exist because people exist to think them. There is this movie: What the bleep do we know. It attacks the foundation of human belief about physical objects. There are many "things" in this world that we cannot see, because we have never heard/ seen/ felt/ thought of before.
I think that ideas can only exist through the humans that bother to identify as ideas. If, at some point in the past, some one came up with an idea and failed to pass it on, that idea died with him/ her.

God is not an idea. God is a self-revealed person. There does not have to be physical or mortal evidence t prove existence. You do not have to be able to touch, see, taste, feel or smell something for it to exist. We know that God exists because He reveals himself to Prophets and Apostles and to all Christians through the Holy Spirit. We have the testimonies of these men in the Bible.
If God had not created you, you would not have a mind to think He is just an idea. You can create an idea of something in your mind and bring to pass its physical manifestation. Artists, craftsmen, and scientists do that every day. Just because God has a different means of creation doesn't mean he doesn't manifest his creations in a similar way. God created man. Man did not create God.

I'm reading a book titled "The Self-Aware Universe", by Amit Goswanni, which touches on the same philosophical issues you raise. My own thinking on this is that God is a concept of mind, but mind is a component of the universe. Ergo, the concept of God may have been intended from the moment of creation.

If you believe that Mt Everest exist or if you say it is made up and no mountain can be that tall doesn't change the fact it is there. I could believe Henry Ford never existed, but then how could I then drive his invention? Same way with God, we are because He thought of us first. He new you before there was time. Hmm.

If God is real and nobody believed he exists, does that make him not exist?
If nobody believes that you exist, does that make you any less real.
I had no idea that you were out there till now and does that make you any less real to me? Maybe someone is using your name to type this and you really dont exist.
Get the point.
