I'm okay with Yoga. But at the Yoga and meditation center I've been going to for a year there's been a couple things that really made me feel uncomfortable as a Christian. One night the Yoga Instructor told us to Salute The Moon. It was this Yoga Posstion that looked simulare to bowing down. I felt like we were worshiping the moon and left. Then one day durring meditation a Buddhist came in with a Buddha statue and meditated. I felt like God was telling me to get out and not enter. I no longer feel comfortable at this Yoga center out of fear of Idolatry. Would you pray for me that I'll be able to obey God on this?

You did well by staying away from it. God gives you a way out of everything wrong. You caught the devil red handed trying to draw you away from Christ. Satan will use any method to get us away from our Savior.

I don't understand the problem some Christians have with yoga. I believe it stems from fear. I am not a Christian (though I was raised in the church), and I practice yoga. I have never worshiped or idolized anyone or anything while doing yoga.
Actually, there is an excellent book by Christy Turlington, a practicing Catholic, Living Yoga, and she explains how yoga has deepened her spiritual practice within her own faith.
Even the ethics of yoga could be practiced within most religions.
Be loving and forgiving
Be kind and empathetic
Be non-violent and seek peace
Be honest with perfect integrity
Protect the environment
Engage in lifelong learning
Contribute to the community
Follow the Golden Rule
Stay in the here and now

Prayers going up.

Yoga is a very healthful exercise. It is really too bad that most instructors are not sensitive to the Christians who want to use it.

I would suggest you seek out a YOGA for Christians DVD or class and exercise at home. (try ask.com or Google)They may call a POSE A sun salutation or a moon salutation, but they are just terms for poses if your heart is for Jesus!

You don't have to worship the moon. And I'm sure god would know that you are not putting idols before him. Get real. Obey god an what? What did he tell you? I just heard a guy who's so worried about every little thing he's running in circles.

This only shows a closed mind. Remember there are as many paths to God as there are people. Learn to understand others. Being bigoted does not help. If you find anything intolerable either you quit the scene or make sincere efforts to understand other belief systems. Don't criticize.

Understand the Buddhists acknowledge Jesus as a prophet. And of course that is their tradition. And if you are not praying to this statue, why should it bother you? (Wear a cross if it makes you feel better. Heck I make dog-tags with crosses on them. And I sport them proudly. I let people know who's got my back.)

Do you also say the pledge of alliegence? If so, I would see this as no different. These are things to help you meditate that are of this world, not of God's world. As long as your heart is pure, it is fine. God knows your heart.
