Im NSCA -CPT

I asked why, because i know it doesn't work. Carbs are your main source of energy. Protien can be used for energy, but it offers far less ATP

if you dont know what ATP is you shouldn't be answering this question.

because it has been proven to be effective time and time again. increasing the protein intake and decreasing the carb intake not only helps to increase insulin sensitivity but it helps to keep from overeating by increasing satiety. it's basic human physiology, at rest the primary energy source for skeletal muscle is free fatty acids. glucose is only used by skeletal muscle during high intensity exercise. if there is no high intensity exercise being performed regularly then there is no need for a high carbohydrate intake for a population that is getting increasing more sedentary.

the problem is that most people don't realize that the need to make lifestyle changes along with changing the eating habits.

Because that's what they're being fed by nutritionists lately -- ever since Atkins became popular. I've known people to lose weight that way, but they end up gaining it all back when they add carbs back to their diet.

not necessarily. wat happens is that protein builds muscle. and muscle burns fat. but muscle weighs more than fat so u might not lose wight but ull defintely slim down if ur a girl or get bigger if ur a guy
