Yes you can drive with 4 lug nuts. My cars only take 4 lug nuts and there have been instances when I've driven with 3. Just don't drive with less than 3, because it's not going to hold the wheel on properly. Nothing will necessarily happen if you drive with 4 lug nuts, but if they are loose there is a chance they could over time vibrate completely loose and your wheel could fly off.
However, that could happen with 5. I would reccomend buying some lug nuts to replace any mission ones, and if the studs are missing pick up a set of those as well. Also be sure to check you lug nuts are a somewhat regular basis, especially if you have aluminum rims since you're not supposed to tighten lug nuts as tight on aluminum as you do on steel since you could damage the rim.

HK , you can drive with a lug at the 12:00 pos,4:oo pos and 8"00 pos. One less lug than you approve of. Reason being in round track racing to get the car back on the track fast this set up worked

Just have the tires mounted on wheels that properly fit your car. You could probably get a few bucks for the wheels without the tires on them. This is a much wiser suggestion than using adapters /spacers on your car. EDIT: Re-Drilled? I don't think so. You guys are misrepresenting your so called expertise.

Yes you can do it but only in an emergency. Without all the lugs on you are putting more pressure on the ones that are there which can cause the studs to bend or break and also can egg out the holes in your wheels.

NO NO NO. You will put more stress on the remaining studs, they will weaken over time and your tire will pop off. There is no excuse for driving an unsafe car. A few bucks will buy a new nut, a few more bucks will replace a damaged stud. Isn't your life worth more than just a few bucks?

For gosh sakes you can get a lug nut at any auto parts store for a couple of bucks. Get it fixed before you drive the car.

Some engineer , smarter than you, decided this rim and tire needed 5 lug nuts to hold it on your car. You make the call!

Of course it's driveable. It's reasonably safe to drive home. There will be some additional flexing of the wheel and maybe fatigue if you drove it for a long time.
I would not think of leaving it in that condition after you get home. They're too easy to fix.

The reason why it's dangerous is because it can create an imbalance in your wheel. At high speeds and over a distance, this can cause your wheel to wobble, and eventually come off. If you have to drive it, drive slowly, and only as far as absolutely necessary. Ideally, to the shop.

The car is safe to drive, as long as you want to. It will not support the maximum trailer towing or cargo weight. You also will warp the rotor or drum on that wheel.
