LOL...good question! I totally agree. They make you feel like you are doing something illegal every time you go in there. I've resorted to getting my annual tags online. It's faster and I don't have to be tortured by our local people.

I deal with the DMV on a weekly basis putting leans on cars for work being performed.

I have noticed that they are pretty rude, but underpaid NO they make pretty decent money doing this simple job.

I would say it is a authority thing.give them a little and they take 5 miles.

They know you have to do this so why make it fun????

I now have my own lien processing I do myself due to the idiots at the DMV - and I also get my personal tags online.

No, yet they have not have been given any incentive to handle shoppers properly the two. it incredibly is basically approximately impossible to hearth a central authority worker! you in addition to mght have the area the place some get the "because of the fact I say so" syndrome. i can't count selection what proportion situations a DMV worker has instructed me incorrect practise. they at the instant are not experienced to be rude, yet they at the instant are not experienced to be client friendly the two!!

where i live we have a dmv office with 30 windows and 12 employees
my local gov. decides we need another location with 15 windows and 5 employees
wouldn't it have been wiser/cheaper to hire more employees at the original location than build a new bldg. and buy more computers to sit and not be used.
So from now on I refer to the DMV as the department of monkeys and vegetables
Basically you could train a chimp to do that job and most likely a vegetable as well

I have always wondered the same thing. I think it is because they are always so damn busy. Imagine the people they encounter when they are busy people get irrated and rude. I would hate to spend 8 hrs in there I can barley stand 15 min in the DMV.

Well, they have worked there for years, are bored to death, and sick of the people, and are putting in time to reach retirment. They work for the government and its hard to get them fired. You have to make a formal complaint so that the behavior is changed, if a clerk gets enough complaints they can get fired. Ask for a manager, if the manager is also rude, you can go online and make a formal complaint to the regional manager. Don't be decieved they get paid very well for what they do, and they don't do it very well!

Mostly because they're over worked and under-paid. Not that that's an excuse but probably the truth. I hate going to DMV but I think I'd hate working there even more!

They are Civil Service workers, low paid and poorly supervised. Also where I am, they are made up of immigrant minorities, and by virtue of holding a government position, seem to feel that they are untouchable.

They work for the government and can't get fired. If you work for a private company, you would not last long being rude.

Because there government employees and they know you HAVE to come to them to get your tags. Therefore no customer service is required.
