The tourist visa is very difficult to get from the Philippines because the embassy is concerned about the high rate of TNT. For anyone to get a tourist visa they must make a compelling case that they have a vested interest in returning (good job, bank deposits, land ownership). Also it could complicate your immigrant petition if the embassy wants to interview you and you're not there. If your son is under 21, the wait for an immediate family member petition from your parents shouldn't take that long. Better to wait for the immigrant visa. If he is over 21, you and your wife will still be able to come in short order but then you would need to sponsor him on a separate visa application after arriving yourself.

You can apply for a US visa as a tourist in order to enter the US because you have no choice since your petition is still pending.

The embassy at manilla used to require you to show that you have sufficient funds for a round trip and that you had a vested interest in returning to the Philippines before issuing a visa. I doubt that has changed in recent years.

You've asked this before under another name, haven't you? It's possible but you will have to have solid proof that you will return to the Philippines. If you have a good job, a very good job, and a letter from your employer stating that you are on leave of absence and your job is waiting for you on your return it would be very helpful.
