SOL. Even if you tracked the registration number of the dog through the AKC...you would need to original with the previous owner signing the back to transfer the dog to you.
So the former owner is your only hope.

If you got a pure bred Bulldog you would have paid a few thousand for him/her. If not what you are talking about are the AKC papers. They don't mean much unless you are showing your dog in their sanctioned events.
AKC papers are very easy to falsify & many back yard breeders & puppy mills do it all the time.
If you are wanting these papers so you can breed your dog, I strongly suggest you think twice about it. There are many complications associated with them giving birth. & since you have a pet quality dog it isn't worth the Vet expences. Now if you had the pure bred it would be a different story. You would have the Pedigree Papers as well as the Registry papers & the sellers would have made sure you had those papers. No 'ifs', no 'ands', no 'buts'.

Can you contact the previous owner? If so, ask about the papers. If this person isn't the breeder, contact them. If you don't know this information, getting the papers will be very hard. Technically, a breeder must sell a registered pup with its papers according to the AKC. The papers can state the pup has to be spayed or neutered, but the pup's papers belong to it and should have been with it. If the breeder withheld these, you could report them to the AKC and they will investigate and work with you to resolve the issue. If the previous owner withheld them you may need to go to civil court to get them back.

You need to get them from the previous owner and/or breeder of the dog. If you didn't get them before and can not contact the original owner then it's close to impossible to get the papers for the dog.

if a dog is just a pet, you dont need papers. If you plan to breed, your first mistake was buying a dog with no papers. BTW no there is no way. Besides ckc but honestly that is worthless.

You already asked this, and unless you get them from the owner there is no way to get them. If the dog's litter was not registered by the breeder there is no way.
And I already answered this, geesh!

I hate it when people sell dogs as "purebred, no papers." If they aren't registered, they can't be called purebred.

Was he previously registered? Then you should be able to find record of him and get your name transferred.
If he's never been registered, you can get forms from akc and take them to the previous owner to sign for proof.
