Hi there,,,,,
Ok heres how its done....... All cell phones send out a signal to the transmitters and recieve signals back hence you know the signal strenth. This signal includes your cell number. This way your phone and you can be tracked quite easily... This has been used by poilce in usa to show a person made a call from a certain location at a certain time which wouldnt show from basic records.
Ok the govt has a system whereby it can track all cell phone calls and it automatically looks for key words. When these key words are "heard" by the system the call is recorded contents who made it and where. The call is listened to and determined whether its of importance.
This goes for all phones... even pay as you go .. they can locate the caller easily. They dont need to wire tap .. they dont need permission becasue there is no "physical evidence"
Yep all your calls on a cell phone are being listened to....
not necessarily by a person but definately by the computer which monitors all wireless, radio and satelite comunications...

Aside from intercepting the radio signal, they would not contact the cell phone company and 'try to get permission'. They would contact the cell phone company and ORDER them to comply. If they have a warrant, the cell phone company is required the comply. Are you are thinking of what has been referred to as 'warrant-less wiretapping' or the 'foreign terrorist surveillance program.' Whatever you call it, that is an NSA program, not and FBI program. The NSA can intercept the signals without the cell phone company's cooperation.

I like cell phones because I dont SPEAK to people ever and that's all a home phone is used for. I can play games and use apps on my Iphone, and that's why I like it. I have social anxiety so I have no use for a 'simple' phone.

Any communications technology can be tapped and spied upon, the medium doesn't matter (ie: wired, wireless).

Look at it this way - if the mind of man can create a technology, then the mind of another man can break into that technology.

You're quite mistaken. Cell phones are extremely easy to monitor. Because they broadcast over the airwaves, all you need to do is monitor the proper frequency. You never need to get anywhere near the person.

A cell phone is a radio! Anyone with the right type of receiver can listen to your phone if the receiver is within a certain distance from your phone.
