I would recommend going to AKC.COM and looking at the attributes of each breed and then go from there to decide which dog would be best for your family. One dog may be perfect for one family but not for another since all families are different.

I have a yellow lab thats a girl and she is an angel and loves kids. My neighbor had a beagle but she said the beagle was too much work. so in my opinion I recommend the lab. Have anymore questions? Try emailing me at jordan_soccer222@yahoo.com

I have both actually. So here is my advice....

If you want a smaller dog then a beagle is the way to go.

And if you want a bigger dog then get the yellow lab.

Both of mine are really good with children. Both are good hunting/herding dogs each in their own way.

My black lab goes through approx 15lbs of dog food each week depending on what the weather is like. Sometimes he can go through double that especially in the colder months. Of course (with exception of her pregnancy) the beagle goes through about half of that.

Of course labs need lots more space than beagles do. We have a 1/2 acre and our lab still goes running the neighborhood when he can to visit his german Shepard friends on the next block.

Both bring our family a lot of happiness and new adventures every day.

I like both but beagles like to wander a little bit because of their hunting/tracking instincts so you might want to make sure to have a fenced in yard for a beagle. Labs are really energetic for the first 2 years and can be destructive so you need a lot of patience with them.

I don't know what kind of yellow labs these other people have seen, but in my experience working at a vet 6 + years, yellow labs are far from quiet -- theyre energetic, playful, and do big dumb lovable things all the time.

I have a beagle and she is the best dog I've ever had. Beagles do bark a lot, but with proper training they can be broken of that habit. Snoopy is a beagle, how can you go wrong with Snoopy.

Yellow Lab!!!
They are the best!
Easy to train, lovable, playful and just beautiful!!!
Beagles are harder to train because theyre hunting dogs and are hard listeners!!

Yellow lab, they are calm and easy to train. You run across more drug sniffing, hunting and seeing eye dogs that are labs for a reason.
