most phones sold in mainland China markets are from HK. definitely cheaper there. range from 500rmb to 2000rmb...all depend on which phone you are talking about. it will always be cheaper than buying in the US but make sure its a genuine phone, lots of fakes around or used phone sold as new phone.

They are cheap to a certain degree. If you want a "fake" one, then yes, it is cheaper, by fake I mean a phone that's not authorized by the dealer. However, it works well.
