I am slightly lactose intolerant and have to deal with the runny bum after enjoying one of my favorite snacks. I like to watch tv and eat some potato chips, works well with veggies too, b ut my bum has requested I find some nice non-lactose alternatives.

********CLAM DIP
3 tbsp. butter
1 can (10.5 oz.) can minced clams
1 tsp. Worcestershire
4 tbsp. catsup
1 tsp. sherry
1 onion, chopped
1/2 green pepper, diced
1/4 lb. Velveeta cheese
1/4 tsp. hot pepper
3 lg. bags Fritos and multiply this x 4
Makes enough for large chafing dish.
Saute butter (butter), onions, green pepper until onion is translucent. Add cheese, Worcestershire sauce, catsup, sherry and melt down. Simmer 5 minutes.
Add hot pepper sauce (Tabasco) until hot as you dare. Serve with dipping Fritos and watch this disappear.

********PICO DE GALLO
8-10 Roma tomatoes (seeded)
1/2-1 red onion (to taste)
1 jalapeno pepper (or more to taste)
2 medium cloves garlic
juice of one lime
1 tablespoon olive oil
4 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
1 teaspoon coarse salt
1/2 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
Seed and dice tomatoes. Chop onion, jalapeno and garlic to a fine consistency. To these ingredients, add the fresh cilantro, salt, pepper, olive oil and lime. Mix well.
Cover and refrigerate for at least 3 hours. Best if served the next day.

How about olive tapenade on toasted bagette rounds? Take about 3/4 c. black olives(preferably calamata,but make sure the are pitted), 1/4 c. green olives(spanish olives are fine),1 Tbls. capers, 2 cloves of garlic, the zest and juice from 1/2 a lemon, about 1 tsp. balsamic vinegar, 2 Tbls. extra virgin olive oil. Salt and pepper to taste Place all ingred. in food processor and pulse until pieces are about the size of petit peas. It's also good with bagel chips!!

No-dairy dips

Veggie Dip

1 cup raw cashews
1 cup water
1 teaspoon onion powder(*can use garlic powder instead)
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 clove garlic (*can use onion instead) 1/8 cup lemon juice

Place all ingredients in blender. Blend until very creamy. Chill.
*Can swap the two items above*

Keeps in frig for about 5 days.

Yummy Veggie Dip

INGREDIENTS

1 cup mayonnaise(soy-based)
1 teaspoon ground turmeric
1 teaspoon garlic salt
1 teaspoon white sugar
2 teaspoons dried minced onion
1 teaspoon prepared horseradish
1 teaspoon white vinegar
DIRECTIONS
Stir together mayonnaise, turmeric, garlic salt, sugar, onion, horseradish, and vinegar in a small bowl. Chill 2 hours before serving.

Soy-based Mayo available at whole food stores/natural food stores.

If you like Ranch dip, just mix the dry mix with mayo, don't add the milk. Guacamole is one of my favorites. Make your own cheese dip using milk free cheese and soy milk add a little salsa.

i have to agree with hummus, or baba ganoosh (i am sorry about the spelling but spell check was way off) it is eggplant and garlic so darn good!
