Other than the facts you already have, I wanted to tell you that the carbonation leaches calcium from you bones. You will feel the effect of that as you get older.

Soda is high in calories. When you are trying to lose weight you need to be burning more calories than you take in as this is how weight loss occurs.
As soda is carbonated it also can make you look and feel bloated. Swicthing to diet soda is a start but if you can limit your intake of soda you will find you will reach your goals sooner.

No but all the sugar it gives you isn't so great and can turn to fat if you consume too much sugar. Besides, soda isn't good for you regardless if it is diet or not.

All diet drinks have something called "aspartame" in them. Aside from havin less sugar and fats and things, this ingredient causes brain damage when consumed over a long period of time. Don't drink them every day.

when you constantly ingest simple sugars in the diet it causes insulin sensitivity to decrease in the muscle cell. when insulin sensitivity decreases there is less nutrient uptake in the muscle cell and more in the fat cells. fat cells do not become resistant to insulin
