Worship and Church is not for fun and entertainment. But you may be able to worship and feel God's love better in a predominately back church. Make sure your motives are right and your heart is right wherever you worship. If you are going for the fun, maybe you ought to do your worshiping at a hip hop concert, you would probably get just as much out of it.

Well, that might be more than slightly stereotypical and based on movies, but it's probably true to an extent in many situations. I'm white and go to a mostly white church, but have always wanted to visit a black church like the one you described. It would be so much fun!

The goal of Church is to worship and to that end there is not a lot of guidlines. You made the "white" church sound less than the "black" church. But, you can easily get caught up in "worship" and find out that you never did. What I am saying is that too many churches are heavy on the entertainment and lack a true experience with God.

If you noticed I danced around your question because it is irrelavant. We are talking about culture here. Blacks are more tribal as most ethnic groups are and thus worship is more loose. White culture is steeped in Medival worship and even tracks back to Greco-Roman forms which means they do not let anything control them.

My grandmother is white but she attends an all black church and loves it and she is well loved in return. I think it is just one of those things. I have noticed a growing number of mixed race young churches that are pretty lively. It may be more of an aged thing rather than just a race thing.

I am not exactly sure but I have heard that it dates all the way back to the salvery days before the civil war. There church services was the only bit of freedom they had and they made the best of it. I attended the black folk gospel service when I was in Afghanistan, Army base and I greatly enjoyed it. I am a white boy hillbilly from Kentucky.

In order for what you said to be true, you would have had to have visited EVERY black church and EVERY white church, and I doubt seriously that you have. There are black churches that hold lively services, and there are black churches that hold more reserved services. Besides all that, you're supposed to go to church to praise and worship God, so it doesn't matter if the congregation is bringing the house down the with singing, or if they are sitting quietly praying and singing "amazing grace", it's all in the recognition of God.

Black people are like salt and spice giving flavor taste and variety to life. Life would be so pale and boring without them. Tough and unfair experiences have not only failed to kill their spirits but made them survivors.

No drama more exciting to watch than black drama, no music so soul penetrating like black music, no way of life so interesting to wonder about than the black way of life. No congregation so welcoming than a black congregation. Long live black people, you are beautiful and add color to life.

We have fun at my church, come and see us this Sunday. I hate to break this to you, but all Christians pray in church.
