The world will end when God is good and ready for it to end, and not when everybody says it will end.

I think it is because people say superlative things when they feel no control of their own lives and are therefore judgemental of others' way of life. Most folks I know never feel satisfied with what they have; their job, their home, their boss, etc...this attitude leaves people feeling like giving up. Making a statement like "it's the end of the world" is a cop-out way of saying that it's okay to be angry with what people perceive they don't have. It's a way of making a large statement without anything to back it up. As an athiest, I believe that the world will end by chance (a meteor) or by its inhabitants own doing (global warming). I do not feel it has anything to do with a higher being other than the universe at work.

The world will end after 7 years of tribulation. That is the time when the anti-christ (devil in human form) will come to earth, and for the first 31/2 years, will make everyone think that he is a good person. For the last 31/2 years, he will destroy the earth, and there will be much violence. It will be worse then the world has ever seen. Then Jesus will come back to the earth, and take the Christians with him to heaven. That is the part where the world ends.

The world will be around long after humanity dies off. However, five billion years from now the sun will begin to die. As this happens, the sun will begin to expand eventually becoming a red giant star. As a red star, the sun will expand so large that it will burn earth to a crisp. It is then that the 'world' will end. Ah, but take solace that there is plenty of life in the universe. Life will go on.

Humanity may be stupid, we may do the damnedest things to ourselves, but despite that we seem to have a knack to survive our own stupidity and violence. Humanity will be around for a long time, long after the immediate generations that will follow-us.

It'll probably be because of global worming or they were even talking about meteriots striking earth but who knows! I LOVE Earth and i'll only be 16 in 2012 so that would reallllly suck if it did come to the end maybe if we all pray to GOD he'll help us along the way!

Well, the world IS going to end. WHEN is the question. Of course, when conditions are getting worse and worse for more and more people, people do tend to think the worst will happen.
Add to that global warming, the fact that most "haves" are unwilling to cut back, the "have-nots" can't cut back, it is a receipe for disaster.
